Is anyone else getting sick of this media frenzy over Jade Goody impending demise? Yeah it’s sad that she’s dying (more so because she has children) but do we really need to see her progress of death in a day by day story in all major papers. :crazy_diz

I have also read that she plans a Princess Diana style funeral so the masses can grieve publicly. Does anyone else see something slightly wrong with this? I mean a year ago she was (in the eyes of the media) the most hated of people, a fucking evil racist bigot some called her. Now because she’s dying she has become the equivalent of a chavvy Mother Teresa. :you_crazy

Don’t think me heartless now, i don’t wish death on anyone and i do feel genuinely sorry for her. I’m just sick of this media frenzy and general sickness that encircles it.

Also why i bring this up, i said similar stuff at work today and afterwards it was like i had taken a shit on a dying giraffe, People looked at me like i was the offspring of hitler and a one eyed panda, I was getting evil stares off quite a few people and this annoyed me greatly. It’s like no ones allowed to have a negative view of Jade now that she’s dying, whatever happened to free speech eh. I might even try and get the day off work when she dies even though it’ll most likely be a day of national mourning,. :crazy:

:you_crazy ended up haveing a row with my sister over this – she is a media sponge, reads the sun, mail and all those shit magazines and seems to think jade is some sort of saint now she’s dying

I said I didnt really give a fuck, I dont know her and yeh its sad a person is dying but…. it has no impact on my life as I dont know her, this didnt go down well she just went on and on :hopeless:

havent read anything about it as I am just not interested

Thankfully I don’t read anything which is likely to have a story about Jade Goody in it. It is just another example of the ongoing public hysteria over the details of ‘celebrity’ lives. It revolting in every way.

I feel so sorry for those poor children.

Yes it’s sad, but I couldn’t give a monkeys. If I did, I’d be visiting the local hospital and helping people there and not reading about her in the paper.

As for her spread all over the newspapers, I guess it’s more of a fund raising mission for her childrens future.

As for Jade Goody herself, I used to think ‘Why is this idiot all over our newspapers??’ And then one day it came it me. It’s unfortuantly a reflection of the reading material this nation has adopted. I don’t blame Jade for being in the papers – I blame the lame people who spend money to buy the papers and follow her life story. :you_crazy

Dying young and to a horrible disease is a terrible way to go and I feel for anyone who has to go through it especially with young kids involved.

However, I find the coverage very very dark indeed. It’s really quite sick but no less sick than any other story they put a spin on to sell a few papers/mags I suppose. In the mean time there’s far more important issues that they could exploit.

I think she’s a tit and the fact that the poor woman is going through a very hard time doesn’t change my opinion of her, but I can empathise.

It’s a worrying indication of our social state at the moment that we get wrapped up in this and blinded to real issues. If we ever come out the other side of the recession I’d be suprised if the country has enough brain cells left to start to compete on a global scale once more. We are going to get left behind if we don’t sort it the f**k out.

She’s not exactly trying to avoid the media, eh.

Jade Goody’s death sells, ergo the media will report about every little thing that goes on with her.

As the old rhetoric goes:

People all around the world are dieing, huge populations are suffering from drought/diseases/starvation etc. and we’re focused on one person who started off in Big Brother (Channel 4’s biggest cash cow and mistake at the same time).

Celebs are more important then politics, this is the zeitgeist of countless ages.

I don’t read the papers but the Jade Goody story is everywhere you turn. The one thing i’m glad of is that it shed a light on cervical cancer.
My friend is convinced it’s a fraud, i disagree, it’s genuinely sad but i think the whole media frenzy surrounding it is quite sickening.

I definately feel for her and her family and i dont blame her for wanting to raise as much cash as possible for her kids by selling her story to anyone that’ll listen. What i do object to is Max Clifford coming across as a saint as well saying Jade just wants to raise money for her kids before she dies, Okay respect to her, but how much of a cut is HE making off each story? Whoring a dieing woman about the papers so he can make a few bucks is horrendous.

Also i think that while its fair play she wants to make some cash for her kids, i do think its gone far enough now and chronicling every move of a dieng woman until she inevitably dies is too much, all thats missing now is a countdown to her death clock in the corner of the sun everyday ffs! :you_crazy:

I dont care if its jade goody or princess diana, i dont know them so dont really care, but its sad and shouldnt be made a spectacle of.
EDIT* and.. people that jump on the grief bandwagon like when princess diana died really fuck me off. :crazy:

Absolutely, its an opiate for the masses, distracting them from the real issues… ‘tabloid newspaper’ is a contradiction in terms, a bit like ‘military intelligence’! :hopeless:

If we see people grieving publicly over Goody and if it’s on the same scale as Diana then it will be a very dark day for this country. I better not moan about it though as I expect i will probably be hanged for any anti-Jade comments i make. :you_crazy

I wouldn’t be surprised if in a few weeks Jade announces she’s found a miracle cure and that she’ll live on – much to the tabloids delight no doubt.

Yup – definetly getting sick of the media frenzy, and I think I may be moving abroad and learning a new language so I can pretend I don’t come from this country if it ends up like the circus that went with Diana’s death…:yakk:

There is something very wrong when people are looking to the tabloids and the lives of celebrities to get their contact with their emotions… Yes – it is very sad that she is dying of a nasty disease, as it is very sad that lots of other people are dying of the same or similar diseases – if you are so touched by the sadness of it then why don’t you take the cash you’re spending to read and be in on all the gory details, and donate it to one of the very deserving cancer charities instead? There are plenty of them, and they all need the money (which will be used not only to hopefully find a cure for these diseases, but also to support the people, and families of the people who are going through exactly the same thing right at this moment….)

I find the whole thing utterly ghoulish – sorry if you’ve been an avid reader of the whole saga, but there it is – you’re a ghoul….

i hope as well that Jade or max clifford or the sun or whatever will donate some of the money they are making off the back of jades illness to an actual cancer charity. As although i think its fair enough she wants to provide for her kids i still hope she thinks of others as well as her own children.
