  • I’m currently looking around atm for a Hi-fi system ‘cos my house’s old one is starting to show wear and tear in the sound quality. Got a budget of £300-350 so I wanna try make the most out of it (Obviously I’m not expecting a superman system but I want a decent casual system) but, I need to get certain pieces on the system that are a must.

(Pre-warning: I’m about to be very vague :laugh_at:Bear with me)

    Needs

-It’s gotta be a “smallish” system to fit onto the unit that we have
    -At least 300watts of powah
    -1 or 2 cassette drive(s)
-CD drive (3CD or more changer preferable)
    -DAB Radio
    -Turntable for ma Vinyl’s raaa
    -CD-R compatible playback

    Bonuses

-USB(or similar port) to plug in a PC/Laptop
    -Subwoofer of sorts
    -Looks like a beast :weee:

Now, I have no idea what £300/350 can get me or where is the best place to buy, but I’m hoping you guys will.

    Any help muchly appreciated,

    ::Grass::

They’ve got such a small selection online to look at and not 1 has my requirements down to the needs let alone the bonuses:laugh_at:

Yeah I doubt I will get it online I was just seeing if the prices were cheaper for what I was lookin’ for but they really arn’t. I just find it annoying going into Currys, Comet and having to talk to their staff… It’s like, leave me alone I can read what they are, I don’t need some guy who looks like the Sherminator to read off of the label making it sounds like he knows what he’s fuckin’ talking about :you_crazy

Ignore power ratings as well they mean nothing 90% of hifis which claim that type of power are horribly inefficient. Like my 50w mini denon hifi in the back room is louder and clearer than my missus’ “500w” jvc piece of shit.

Take GLs advice and get yourself down to Richer sounds and have a good hunt. For the £350 you can get a few nice mini systems possibly one of the TEACs that they have and some nice speakers.

    You won’t regret it.
