anyone got any ideas where to look for quotes or how much i should be looking at? want to get a merc sprinter LWB or extra LWB pre converted or one that i can do myself. Anyone got any tips or advice. It’ll be my first van.. :weee:
Mine is done through insurance choice, they were the cheapest for me for a self build motor caravan as they call them. lol
There’s also adrian flux insurance as well… it’s a pretty specialised insurance and not many ppl do it, plus some won’t insure you till you’re 30.
Google it though. that’s what i did..

i cant wait till im 30! looks like im gonna have to get on the case and do some research… got 8 or 9 years no claims so thats got to help..
I use Budget, or Swinton as I think they now call themselves, they have a whole department specially for motor caravans. I suggest you don’t tell them you live in it full time, if that’s what you’re gonna do, just tell them you use it for hollidays, they don’t need to know that your annual holliday lasts a year.
nice one.
and @AF how much is the insurance for your van cause thats the sort of thing im looking for…
insured my first van (yet to be converted, though i didnt tell them that, they didnt ask) with budget yesterday. i couldnt afford a lovely merc sprinter (boo hoo my mate had a converted one for sale, too) but my 1998 r reg vauxhall arena 2.5 engine van was just under £200 to insure for a year – this is with my 5 years no claims, im 26 and have been driving since 2004. hope this helps!
if you self convert your insurance will be invalid unless certain things are done in a certain way E.G. the windows have to be installed to a specification
