Going to Devon and Cornwall this summer for a couple of weeks camping and general hanging around.
Iv always been told there are quite big hippy/alternative type areas around here, could anyone help me with some detail regarding this? Also if anyone can recomend anything thats a must entertainment wise down there id be really gratefull. Any must see pubs/clubs? Musems? etc :weee:
Havnt had a hoilday in a very long time, well excited.
Exeter is a big town/little city if you fancy a night out. Plymouth might have some raving on offer too (but I prefer Exeter personally).
Check out MOO! for other rave action in the south west (forum is down at the moment, but I’m sure it will be back soon).
Cornish beaches are the best around for surfing and chilling in the sun (if you are lucky).
There is quite a big rave scene in cornwall if you are lucky enough to happen upon one.
Boscastle (cornwall) has a witchcraft museum which is quite small, got trashed in teh floods a few years back, but is well worth a visit if you are into that sort of thing.
The closest I have come to a hippy/alternative type area is Totness (devon) but you would never guess it on first glance. I guess Glastonbury is a bit out of your way, but a lovely little town to visit when teh festival isn’t on.
I have never stayed there but I think there is a car park near Newquay where surfers stay in their campervans so you might meet some nice people there.
One of the best fishmongers in the south west can be found in Newlyn (near Penzance) if you are into that sort of thing.
There are untold ammounts of standing stones, stone circles, monoliths and burial ground type places in cornwall – get yourself an AA map and they are all marked.
My favourite beaches are in north cornwall, but the whole coast down there is awesome.
Have a top time =)

No worries mate.
Get on MOO! for some more info about nights in cornwall – there is usually something going on. They promise the forum will be back up soon so keep an eye on it closer to the time 😉
if you visit exeter go to reform records on fore st to find out what’s going on when you’re here
totnes and dartington are where the 60’s cultural revolution began and still have a lot of hippies around
also have a look at resurgence magazine which will give you info about green stuff in the area

Cheers for the info I’ll do that
Plymouth has an awesome dubstep night called Subheavey. All of the big hitters have played. It’s a serious event. There are a few night that happen in the Falmouth Rugby club. Because Grant W Claridge of Rephlex records is from the area origionaly he does things there quite often. There’s also a place called the sansshifter (I think that’s what it’s called) which is worth checking out. I’m putting on a night of acid house, techno and breaks on the 30th but other than that I’d be interested to know myself if there are any outdoor free things happening….
nice thanks for that i’ll have a look into those places. Not too sure when im goin so tis a bit hard to plan really.
