more of a shame about the three injuries and the litter being left behind, all of which has nothing to do with the cops especially as it sounds like they left the event alone..

I can understand the litter being left if 100 riot cops are heading towards you (having once been in this very disagreeable situation myself) – but if they haven’t closed the party there is no excuse for leaving it there.

I’ve always thought that if every exiting vehicle left with a rubbish bag, not only would it leave the site cleaner but the cops would be less willing to want to search vehicles :laugh_at:

in these more “eco-aware” days contaminating the environment is seen by many (even right on folk) as worse behaviour than doing drugs!

I don’t dispute it wasn’t a reasonable party, I bet some of the folk involved are people I know from when I used to party in SE England and East Anglia, but the impression I get is a lot of affluent middle class ravers from SE England/EA (lets face it, it costs a fair bit to drive 100 miles every weekend just for a party) are targeting poorer, high crime areas as they know the cops can’t respond as quickly and as harshly as they can in Thames Valley or Herts/Beds or Norfolk/Suffolk/Essex areas..

in some situations if people don’t drag out last tunes until well into Sunday evening its possible to clear the site before the next shift of cops arrive – I expect though its like the age old problem, only a few people bother to clear the site. If 200 people were assisting, what are 10 cops going to do, arrest all of them for picking up litter? :laugh_at:

That said the cops don’t just stop litter picking for publicity purposes, its also done because in many cases the CSI lot want the rubbish to go through :yakk: – people carelessly drop bank cards (used for racking up) – flyers, wraps made from pages ripped from road atlases and all these things are picked up and used as intelligence material, as it can identify what regions people are coming from.

because of the amount of Nos/K/Mephedrone as well as traditional illegal drugs being sold at raves, the cops now use the Serious/Organised Crime teams to monitor who is involved whereas 10 years ago it was just the local bobbies…
