Just decided to poor a cup of tea over me hifi system and now it wont work…
Not having a good day.
All I really need is the amp from it as I don’t own any CD’s and just use it to power the music from the computer.
Would it be possible to buy a cheap amp and just plug in the old speakers to that? Can you even get cheap stand alone amps?
looks like I could get a micro system for 60 quid but I bet it will sound shit and just need to be upgraded in 2 years. But then even 60 is hard to find when ur off on the sick.
Any ideas technical folks?
If the amp won’t power on it could be that an internal fuse has blown – amps often have a glass “appliance fuse” on the pcb inside.
It’s worth checking this out (and the fuse on the plug) before you shell out on a new amp. Chances are the amp’s full of tea as well so you’ll need to take the cover off and get rid of it all anyway.
may also be worth asking at Speakerplans forum… since they are clued on this kind of thing

The amp was on at the time and stopped working just after the point of impact so I am fearful it is fried. Should really open it up but the CD drive is broke and so are most of the buttons so might not be worth it. PC speakers FTW
Got agree with GL, Richer Sounds do some good deals
I have a decent separates system but I only really use my PC sound card for music or the decks in my flat… Just run this all through my amp, the sound is shit hot. More than adequate for what I need.
