good cause … i’d thing about going if it wasn’t so far … probably gonna get messy tho.. but these thugs need stoping and people shouldn’t let them bully them …!

    I’ll be there.

Bit far north for me. Good luck!

Shame its so far oop north for me, I am surprised at people attitudes to people who are not white british. I even discovered some friends had pretty racist views, after asking why they could never come up with a reason and in the end I would be told ” actually your probably right ” :you_crazy

Most casual racism is just to do with the norms and values which they have been brought up with. Whether it be their parents complaining about “foreigners stealing our jobs” or even “going down to the paki shop”. A lot of what would be considered racist comments, are just terms which people have grown up with and sometimes arnt even aware are racist.

If there’s one thing i hate more than fascists it’s anti fascists.

They’re both as bad as each other.

People with common sense know what to think, both sides can take a running jump in the ocean for all i care.

    How?

I may of been a bit hasty writing that. I don’t know enough about the Edinburgh Anti Fascist Alliance to know how they operate as a group so i take back that statement slightly.

However when i look at groups such as the UAF and how they operate then i think i am well within my rights to compare them to fascist organisations.

bear in mind if especially you believe in national identity and sovereignty that those on this forum North of Carlisle have their own country (although its part of the UK) and their own culture/identity

we in England could learn a lot from Scotland, as by and large they have kept their national traditions and identity without resorting to racism..

I have a question. what is going on with Scotland and this devolution (if that’s right) thing? Does that mean they will be their own country in a world wide view point and what i mean is will the UK be broken up and each country, England, Wales, Scotland will run their own affairs? I don’t understand much about it tbh,

Scotland has always had its own legal system and laws. Devolution however means it also has its own Parliament and things like licensing (for raves) are decided locally rather than in London (for instance they do not have TENS licenses in Scotland).

Certain laws such as drugs laws, and things like defence are still run by London.

Wales doesn’t have its own legal system but can also have local laws about licensing.

The devolved administrations also fund the NHS for each of the 4 nations of the UK.

Although some nationalists in the Celtic nations do suggest this (and a lot of people in NI do not of course want to be in the UK), in reality breaking up the United Kingdom would be expensive and counterproductive and cause a lot of hardship to everyone.

for instance England and Scotland would need different dialling codes for telephones instead of sharing 00 44 + number, and internet domains, and everyones office telephone systems and computers would need to be reprogrammed, which would cost millions!

devolution is where you move some of the power away from london, and in this case hand it to scotland… they have their own parliament, and can make laws etc… its sort of like a regional govt.. suffolk govt or whatever, but its for a whole country… wales is also devolved, but they dont have a parliament, they have a “national assembly”. Ireland is also ‘devolved’, but i dont know much about them other than theres a bit of a problem about it at the moment..

Some people fear that scotland will break away and be by itself (not part of the UK).. they think that scotland can use its devolved power to do this. But in reality westminster / england / london has the ability to revoke all of scotland devolution, although that would cause a bit of an uproar.

indeed… although there is a strong national identity in scotland, i doubt they would want to make the move to independent sovereignity, since that would make scotland a worse place, they would have to put aside more budget for police / health etc, and so taxes would increase etc etc

I am involved with Edinburgh antifa. But do not speak for them, only myself. I must make that clear.

I agree with you on some level. It could be said that anti fascism is reactionary to an extent. The uaf et all are muppets. They and swp front, more interested in membership lists that the actual problem.
And we do have a problem, the fascists are on the rise, they using the EDL to recruit racists, bigots, loyalists and the naive lost.
Unless we do something about it, they are going be on every street corner. And the only proven method is with force. If anyway can find a better solution I’m all ears.
That said there is a place and a platform for political and social will. But We must meet them head on.
The 20th is not the place or time for violence. As that would give them the moral high ground. But we must, must oppose and let them know. They are not fukin welcome.

Don’t get me wrong i think it’s a worthwhile cause fighting fascism, we don’t need that shit in this country.

My beef as you now know is with certain anti-fascists. the ones that are so deluded they actually do not realise they are the very thing they are fighting.

I find it very hypocritical and it annoys me greatly, It probably shouldn’t do but hey we all gotta believe in something ain’t we.
