  • for some reason it wont work, ive tried to test the tcp ports.. (no idea what they actually are tbh..:crazy_diz) and it times out so thats probably the problem, but how do i select a different port to test, can i somehow get a list of available ports from my computer?

who ever answers first gets a choclate.

Depending on your configuration you might need to open ports on the firewall (eg: modem / router) on your network and port forward from that device to your pc…

right, im using avast is that my firewall? or is my firewall part of mozilla or windows? or is the modem/router something in my laptop or something that im connecting to via the hotel im staying at? in which case i wont be able to check or change anything, probably best if you imagine explaing this to a four year old child or a 90 year old granparent…

sure you’ve probably got better things to do tbh 😉

    oh, and take your pick…

Asian ISPs block ports randomly (basically the feds and communications ministry can and do order them to do this at very short notice). it is done deliberately to stop things like torrents and even VOIP phone calls – they tend to just block everything until enough “legit” users scream as its also a way of working out what surveillance/censorship techiques are most effective. users have much less power than in a Western nation (at least until the Internet here gets divided between “home” and “business” use..)

I had been unable to call my mum in Malaysia for 2 days because of VOIP calls / signalling being blocked (it seems to work today!)
