you should add a button “utterly irrelevant”. They seem like they are racist but I have no real idea what they are about. The media suggest there a load of skin heads with IQ’s so low they have to have their own name tattooed on their knuckles. and that they want to get rid of Muslims in the UK along with starting a good old riot. How true an image that is I dont know, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was quite accurate.
They’re having an EDL protest in my town, there will also be a rival group UAF (united against facism) there. gonna be a messy one i think, i gotta make sure i get down there to see the action.
I don’t think they are all racist. Someone I know is part of Luton EDL and he says they have black and Indian people who go to their meetings and rallies.
They say they are against militant Islam and Sharia law in Britain. Maybe some members are racist but you get racists everywhere really. I would think if they have black and other ethnic groups coming to their meetings you can’t label all of em as racists. The media often does but let’s face it when is the media ever truthful, remember the Meow Meow saga?
Also don’t believe the lies of the UAF. They come out with so much crap and they’re so deluded it’s amazing they don’t fall down more.

Footy casuals are are multicultural too, they have been so for 20 years 😉
Asians have always been fighting each other in the UK on religious grounds (Muslims vs Hindus/Sikhs) in Herts/Beds/TVP and Metpol areas for about 30 years if not more.
Even Searchlight (one of the more intelligent anti-fascist organisations) points out quite clearly that the EDL is not as racist as its made out to be. One of the EDL’s main speakers is a Sikh but they enjoy a ruck as much as Muslims do!
One reason Melas always get cancelled in TVP area is because the feds say it could kick off between the Asian gangs and other groups.
BTW if they want to totally eradicate any risk of Sharia Law in the UK they need to campaign to get rid of the bit in British law what allows the Church of England (and by extension all faith groups) to have a say in legislation, as it is this what is the root of the problems (it has already been used to forbid some Jewish women from getting divorces!)
Even Muslims I know (intelligent, moderate ones) say the extremists are just a gang like footy hooligans. There is evidence that all the ringleaders of all the groups (EDL, UAF and the Muslims) are known to one another and simply enjoy the ruck, rather than trying to get anything positive in the political sphere.

I never understand this worry about Sharia Law, why on earth would it come to Britain?
If that’s the case then we should campaign to keep religion out of politics.
All religion is fucked imo. Causes nothing but problems.

It’s already in Britain in some forms.

“There are concerns that women who agree to go to tribunal courts are getting worse deals because Islamic law favours men.
Siddiqi said that in a recent inheritance dispute handled by the court in Nuneaton, the estate of a Midlands man was divided between three daughters and two sons.
The judges on the panel gave the sons twice as much as the daughters, in accordance with sharia. Had the family gone to a normal British court, the daughters would have got equal amounts.
In the six cases of domestic violence, Siddiqi said the judges ordered the husbands to take anger management classes and mentoring from community elders. There was no further punishment.
In each case, the women subsequently withdrew the complaints they had lodged with the police and the police stopped their investigations.
Siddiqi said that in the domestic violence cases, the advantage was that marriages were saved and couples given a second chance.
Inayat Bunglawala, assistant secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain, said: “The MCB supports these tribunals. If the Jewish courts are allowed to flourish, so must the sharia ones.”

god damn that does seem on the surface at least to be bang out of order. Gonna read more about this and see just how far it goes into criminal law etc. Seems very wrong at the moment though. damn.

if you read a British law on the Parliament website, it says something like “Be it enacted by the the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, and the Lords Spiritual and Temporal”.
The last two are the House of Lords. The “Lords Temporal” are the ones what get put in through the normal political system. Some are elected, some are not.
The Lords Spiritual are religious leaders, same as the mullahs and imams who have a lot of power in the Middle East! In our country they are from the Church of England.

However, there have been legal arguments over the years that in a modern European nation either all religions can influence lawmaking or none of them – or its against human rights.
So the C of E have made a pact with other religions so as not to lose their power. Before this kicked off with Muslims there was a fuss over Orthodox Jews (the ones what have the hats and beards and you see around North London a lot) as they had managed to prove in Court that their faith had as much right to make laws as the C of E (well there is probably a lot of clever lawyers amongst them )
BBC NEWS | UK | Sharia law in UK is ‘unavoidable’
and I agree that religious groups should not have a place in the legislature, but they aren’t gonna give up power and the religions often work together to keep it.
