Stroud Police arrested two men yesterday, Thursday June 24, on suspicion of drugs offences as part of an operation on the M5.
The operation had been organised by Avon and Somerset Constabulary and was supported by Gloucestershire Police.
During the operation officers from Gloucestershire Police stopped a vehicle travelling southbound on the M5 and seized a large amount of tables, believed to class C drugs. It’s thought that the vehicle was travelling to the Glastonbury Festival.
Over 100,000 tablets were recovered, which is potentially one of the drugs largest finds by Gloucestershire Constabulary and could have a street value in excess of £100,000.
A 23-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, both from Bude in Cornwall, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned with the supply of drugs. They are currently helping police with their enquiries.
Sergeant Richard Knapp said; “We hope this operation and subsequent arrests show that Gloucestershire Police are dedicated to working with their colleagues in other areas to tackle drugs offences and keep our communities safe from harm.”
