howdy – how’d you mean ‘advertising wise on Google’ ? Do you mean search engine rankings? If so this is a relatively complex and time-consuming area. It doesn’t have to cost you anything if you’re clever with the development of the website, but depending on the business, competition etc there are numerous tools to help, some cost, some don’t. Google Adwords is the obvious one for increasing traffic – this essentially costs however much you want it to. Social media such as Facebook, Twitter etc are increasingly important, as are back links, keywords, blogging, friendly URLs, not forgetting traditional forms of advertising.

This process of making your site available to as many people as possible is called Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), and it’s become an industry unto itself. Depending on competition, keeping a site optimised can be a full time job and the technology is changing all the time so you need to keep up to date – this is a useful site…

Search Engine Marketing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Paid Search Advertising (PPC) – Search Engine Watch (SEW)

Obviously to be a legit business you’d need to be registered with inland revenue (sole trader/ltd company etc) and to take orders directly via the web you generally need merchant status with a bank (to take credit card orders directly through your site), although many sites make use of payment gateways like paypal, alertpay etc. Obviously you can have payments go into a personal account and not register as a business at all, but if you start to make money you’d need to declare it at some point, but that’s up to you – best start out legit if that’s the way you wanna go or it could all go horribly wrong.

Anyway feel free to PM me if you need any more info – glad to help if I can.

It can cost a lot and be a major part of the advertising budget, you can spend thousands and thousands.

parrot fish ygpm and well i dont have thousands so i will have to start of with other methods of advertising first site sponsors etc facebook was sugested and if it works when i make a little put that into moving up the ranks in google

you can do SEO (search engine optimisation) to make your website as streamlined and easy as possible for google to pick it up in its listings… or you can pay for actual advertising… set rate or payperclick… etc etc
