I haven’t got a TV and I only watch movies or downloads on a projector.

In December I cancelled my TV License and the direct debit. As it was pointless paying for a serivce I don’t need nor approve of 😉 They said they will contact me in 10 days. I had a confirmation email about me cancelling my license. But now they keep sending bills asking for money.

It says no where about giving them a notice of cancellation. I suspect they deliberating make it hard for people wanting to do this…

Anyway my question is… Has anyone done this before?

When I was a student I just rang them up and told them I was the new occupant of the address and didn’t use a TV. I don’t think its a requirement, but its worth a shout if you don’t want any more letters. The number used to be 08448006720.

Yeah they are bastards I havent had a TV for 10 years and they always harass you, in my current flat we told them several times we dont have a TV and they keep sending us letters. They sent someone round as well.

Just remember THEY HAVE NO RIGHTS TO ENTER YOUR HOUSE AND YOU HAVE NO LEGAL REQUIREMENT TO PROVE YOU ARE NOT A TV USER

These people are bullies they pretend they have the law on their side and try blag their way into your house but you totally have the rights to slam the door in their face. And its all bullshit about TV detectors they really cant prove you’ve been using them

The whole system is fucked up.. they broadcast some information that flies through the air, through your house and through your body even, then turn up and bully you into paying for it. It’s bullshit and more people need to stand up to it and there is no reason not to as the law is on your side.

Fuck them, fuck them right in the arse with a broken bottle. Dont take any of their shit. Ring them up once, tell them you dont have a TV, tell them noone will be allowed to enter your house, then never respond to them again.

Do you still have tv-license in uk? Here in dk they renamned it media-license, cause you can either streem or podcast the programmes from the state-tv (dr in dk and bbc in uk) so if you got a net connection you got to pay your duze

I am not going to call them because I will only get some idiot on the other end and in my experience they will probably still carry on sending me bills.

Yes I won’t let them into my house, even though I have nothing to hide.

Yes we still have to pay TV license. I bet it won’t be long until they start enforcing the UK to pay a media license as well.

We still have TV license. You are allowed to watch archive television shows on iPlayer without a license but not allowed to stream live media.

I don’t have a tv personaly and neither does my best mate – he had them come over and harass him and they wouldn’t belive him that he didn’t have a tv even after showing them around lol. He just told the to fuck off lol. idiots!

You’re right, there isnt much point in phoning them. At work our office is a registered base for two companies. We have a TV and also a license as well, but only one comapny is named on the license (becuase you cant put two on there apparently). That dosent stop them constantky chasing the unnamed company as they dont have a license. Someone from our office has phoned them many times to tell them but it just dosent register.

My advise would be to learn to recognise what the letters look like and put them straight in the bin when you get them.

If that isnt enough for you, you could write them a letter telling them you’ll take them to court for harassment if they dont back off. The CAB should be able to help you with this and may even write the letter for you.

Well done on getting rid of the TV BTW, it turns your brain to bubble gum :you_crazy
