  • Dirt norfolk free party this weekend!

We played prog/trance electro techno old skool dnb lots of breakz and hardcore!
The rig sounded sweet as a nut and nice one to the organisers for letting us join in and supply the decks and monitors!

Unlucky at all those who went further away to the home counties party, u missed out!:laugh_at:

No trouble from the police! They didnt even show up! Goes to show what private land and calling the old bill to tell them we were doing a party does for public relations…

Roll on the next party, we are already planning the next one bigger and better!:bounce_fl

are you saying the party was held on someones mates family’s land, and invitations were genuinely shared out amongst close friends (like a birthday party for instance?) – provided noise levels are kept reasonable thats still 100% legal 😉

The land is owned by one of other organisers, hes a farmer with a sound system basicaly, you cant get any sweeter than that!

The party was advertised on facebook and in text messages, there wer no invitations, no geust list, the meeting point was good old track 60 and we didnt see a single cop car or officer.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it to all those people who think our party scene has a bad name, us young uns are bringing it back…

if thats the case its relatively legal as CJA doesn’t apply to the property owners land, only noise nuisance and health and safety rules.

They can’t get you for noise in that area – its mentioned in an old book I once read about Suffolk/Norfolk, where (in about 1940) this chap is standing in that area, looking at the (then new) A140 (Forestry hadn’t planted all the trees then!) and sees three lorries go past but can’t hear them, so obviously this works the other way round (bear in mind also lorries didn’t have all the modern silencers of today). The moment he described the area I worked out where it was..

    this is the book BTW

Suffolk Scene: A Book of Description and Adventure: Amazon.co.uk: Julian Tennyson: Books

TBH what pissed off the authorities in 2007 particularly wasn’t the parties, it was the amount of ambulances what needed to be called out to remote areas due to K-heads injuring themselves, jealous peopel fighting over girls, and also Forestry getting pissed off about slack clearing up.

if this has been sorted and last tunes are had at a sensible time then there is less reason to shut down those parties which do not cause noise nuisance.

I really don’t think the wider society of East Anglia (which is actually very tolerant in many respects) is that fucking stupid as to want to go to war with its own young people especially when there is economic crisis and global troubles, there can be compromises but both sides need to be less stubborn..

I hope people (especially those from other areas) don’t try and rinse Thetford forest every weekend though, as some bits are very near Brandon and Thetford and stacks in the wrong place can be heard in these towns, thats what got it locked off in the first place..

The 4 partys we have done now hav been on open farmland away from the forest coz we know what the foresty are like, its just so much easier with private land!
The amount of people who have come to these parties and offered the land owner thousands of pounds to do parties on his land and hes just turned em all down, hes a farmer, hes got more money than most people!

There’s also another reason – if he actually takes the money its more trouble than its worth, he can still get busted and fined for being involved in holding the unlicensed music event and making a profit from it. The fallout from this could basically cost him his livelihood and as you say would make him much less real cash than legitimate farming.

its not illegal though and never has been to play music for your friends or to have other forms of entertainment on your own farm if its not done for profit. There is also a tradition of this in East Anglia before even electric was invented..

However, if you are slightly older (late 20s/30s/40s) and the feds do think you are involved in any sort of crime they treat you a lot more harshly as if you are a “hardened criminal/gangster” rather than just a youth who has gone a bit off the rails.

its a legal grey area these parties are operating in, so they can only work if everyone is considerate to the whole community. No doubt you lot are as otherwise I’d have read about the events in the EDP24 by now, the problem is the other crews who let things slip…
