Easy people..
As a few of you know, in september I moved down to Cornwall from Norfolk to start a degree. Anyway, as of now I haven’t met many people in my day to day life who share the same love for partying to filthy electronic music; and if I have, they’re way past that stage now (for some strange reason – too much too young I tell thee!).
So if there’s anyone on PV from the area, then let me know raaa
I’m sure they’ll turn up eventually, though I suspect just like here the scene peaks in the spring/summer due to weather issues. It was this site which helped me meet a lot of ravers (including yourself!) when I moved area in 2006…
However, I have noticed for at least 5 if not 10 years that there are far less University students involved in the rave scene, across the UK.
People do seem to start younger, party until their early 20s and knock it on the head when they go up to University. Some restart after graduation but the bulk are more interested in paying off debts and careers.
The impression i’ve got from speaking to younger friends is that Uni courses are actually way harder, more intense, very competitive (particularly in liberal arts courses) and young people at Uni are now very hard working and don’t want to take excessive risks, especially when they are responsible for loans/fees, nor do they want to let down their parents.
Also compared to my teenage days there are more people doing fun/interesting liberal arts/creative courses (compared to being forced into a course you don’t want to do which happened to me!) so I guess students genuinely do want to get the most out of their education.
Also, less young people do drugs these days!

its a definite change as 20 years ago Universities were full of drugs and dealers – people used to fund their courses selling pills etc (although the feds got wise to this and even middle class students from good backgrounds ended up being sent down!
by the late 1990s students could get kicked out of halls, disciplined and expelled from uni for less burden of proof than the Police needed to bust someone for posession (someone I used to rave with who was also a lecturer tipped me off about this situation).
