    Who went?

    What did you think?

I went to this event, first time ive been to the arena and i thought it was good.
The event was done by Anwatt, Chronic, Equality, Storm and Audio Porn (im pretty sure)

The main room had 3 huge systems in it, the usual chronic and equality wsx martin audio link up, Storms booming 21″ scoop rig, Anwatts turbo sound and ASS rig.
Anwatts rig blatantly sounded the best, the other rigs were either too bassy or just to loud to be able to hear the music properly.
I know people don’t usually complain about too much noise, but it gets to a point where its not pleasurable listening anymore!

Was a phat night tho, very little trouble and the bouncers were safe as fuck (usualy the bouncers are strikt at arena, but this time they hardly searched anybody and not a single one of our group got asked for id! wots up with that?)
    :bounce_flraaa

I did see sum bruv knock the shit out of this lad with one punch though, he was out for the count. Anyone within 20 yards of him, heard that punch and it was followed by an “ooohhhhhh…..”

    did mark eg play there?

I went there in “Summer” 2009 and the searches were much less than I had feared (there were OB on the door at some points). it was still fucking freezing the next day (in June!), which put me off going all the way up to Yarco in winter…

BTW age checks on entry are not a legal requirement. its not illegal for a young teenager to be in a nightlife venue, its only against the law for them to be drinking underage. I think the feds may have also pointed out to the organisers that a load of angry youths some of whom may have travelled 200 miles or more being ejected into the streets of yarco is just a recipe for further trouble.

unfortunately there always seems to be some sort of fight in or around this event. at the 2009 one a fat chav got arrested for fighting by two even bigger coppers. I photographed this, and got a few of my mates and people at work to try and guess the total weight of all three. Average figure was well over 1/4 ton (250kg) :laugh_at:

Thats Brilliant, did u find out the total mass lol?

Personaly i didnt really enjoy the event. Im happy i stayed sober all night, as i had shit to do the next day and turned down alot of “freebies” off mates. Also room 3 with toxic and truma was rude as fuck but other than that the event wasnt anything to shout home about i dont think.

I saw alot of ravers and party goers who were complete tits, kinda made me want to get out of the rave scene completly :/. Classic examples of this were a load of them were lighting up joints in the local mcdondals. And on the train journey home nearly all the ravers in my carragie bar my friends group were doing coke and ket openly infront of straight people, and refusing to pay the train fares……..

I’d say that 250-300kg for 2 Norfolk coppers + a chav is a fair estimate. Short of getting all 3 of them weighed in at the fish docks thats about as accurate you could get.

On a serious note, I was tempted to take the train up but feared that stuff like the above would happen, I really don’t want to be associated with people acting like idiots, East Anglia is a small world (despite the area being large) and I am older and have to be reasonably respectable during the week…

when people behave like muppets at music events in the night time economy as a whole it gets associated with “anti social behaviour” and Police costs for dealing with it get passed back to organisers and punters (higher license fees/ticket prices, drinks prices etc).

ravers weren’t complete angels 10 years ago, but my friends who were partying this area at the time did seem to have a bit more respect..

one important change is this time round the CCTV footage all gets recorded for a much longer time – it can be looked at months down the line. Especially if people are ripping off NXEA for the train fares and being abusive…

Its not enough to get individuals nicked, but the cops have used stuff like this in the past to refuse licenses unless more money is paid towards their costs. wasn’t that long ago every night time venue got stopped at 2am latest and the current govt is looking at this to discourage anti-social behaviour – I appreciate those in their 20s won’t remember this but the new government is changing licenses so anything after midnight costs more to license because of the recent rise in ASB..

the few partys ive been to by chronic have been fucking shit, mostly full of angry twats. and gary boys in shit cars. last party was end of summer, music was cack as well.

I would have been half tempted to go simply to find Matt Storm and say to him

“I moved 200 fucking miles away and still can’t get away from you lot rinsing hardstyle” :laugh_at:

To be fair I’d even tolerate hardstyle if I’d be guaranteed to encounter a friendly happy crowd like it would have been in EA 5-10 years ago (I don’t even mean the 1990s, I’m talking fairly recently).

Or even parties at the start of 2007 in East Anglia – it came close to a bit of a revival but went to shit within months 😥 (and I don’t think feds were to blame either)

I wouldn’t blame any one crew for this. Its been going like that at raves since about 2004/5 – particularly in SE England. ironically East Anglia was the last area what remained a bit more friendly. A lot of the safe people have fucked off from the rave scene in droves and are just getting on with their lives…

i thought chronic was from around milton keynes way?

Milton Keynes is in SE England, along with Reading, Aylesbury, Oxfordshire and similar places. Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire are (just) about in the East..

yeah i suppose, only just though, thought it was more in the south, sort of in the middle. when ever people say south east always think of east anglia..

UK geography is very confusing as the private and public sector use different boundaries as well as peoples cultural views – I tend to use the “official” regions that the EU define as we use them at work for assessing where people are for NHS funding purposes and its also what nature/wildlife enthusiasts tend to use these days.

anyway as for raves I’ve found a definite different attitude across regions and I’ve actually found people in EA (at least at smaller parties) to be slightly friendlier/ more fun loving and less up themselves (at least if they haven’t done too much K).

You do get a few Ali G clones but they are more comedy value than genuinely angry/threatening (especially when I learned many some lads who had been giving it the large one were in fact from Stowmarket, and they didn’t even know where many places were in London) :laugh_at:

    :you_crazy

Seriously lots of people I know in their 20s have stopped going and my other young friends (in their 20s to 30s) think raves are for sketchy chavs and no better than townie clubs (they’ve also seen their friends fuck up big time from drugs)

I can understand more people my age with kids doing it, especially as their kids will be at school age and you need to make sacrifices then, but young single people are stopping partying in droves. others here are simply not starting! Also the groups of people who go to college/uni definitely don’t party as much as they used to – there’s a new uni in my area and normally a music scene becomes associated with it but there’s absolutely jack shit. (mind you it doesn’t help when local party crews get their stacks robbed  )

i dont know your friendz in their 20s or their reasons for not going partying anymore so can not comment, if your other friends (in their 20s & 30s) think raves are for sketchy chavs & no better than townie clubs, then they clearly are not partyiers at heart, and there honymoon with the scene is over, thats fine, infact its why i love the scene, if they have discoverd that its not for them then cool, do the traviling thing or the 2.4 children thing. however they shouldnt tar everyone with the same brush, to say that raves are no better than townie clubs is niave & narrow minded of them, to say that raves are full of skecthy chaves is complete nonsense, and tbh the above statement reeks of inexperiance, and an unfortunate “honeymoon” period in wich they attended events that were not suitable for them. did your friends speak to said sketchy chavs? i could be considerd a skecthy chav, i wear nike air max trainers & hoodys, but actually im a jolly decent guy!

I can understand more people my age with kids doing it, especially as their kids will be at school age and you need to make sacrifices then, but young single people are stopping partyinv in droves.

i dont understand the above either, how can you say that for sure, are you active in the party scene right now? i can assure you that every time we step out new faces appear, new people are getting in touch, of course people leave the scene, its not for everyone, and is certanly not something that is mandatory to have to do for a certan period of time, but to make a sweeping statement like people are leaving in droves is just not true. Nye over 1000 people in bristol, big numbers in asda car park, and so ive been informed by people on the ground many hundreds of other ravers in pockets up & down the country. system feedback last saturday our busiest yet scumoween, uk tek over 2000 people,

Also the groups of people who go to college/uni definitely don’t party as much as they used to – there’s a new uni in my area and normally a music scene becomes associated with it but there’s absolutely jack shit. so just because theres a new uni there immediately becomes a scene, and when there dosent the scene is done??! im quite surprised by this assumption, yes uni can be a breeding ground for creativity & expression but things take time,i doubt many of this new uni students even know about the kit robbing saga ( btw what happened there? was it someone they knew)
INFACT I WAS IN A TAA MEETING LAST NIGHT AND THE PLACE WAS FILLED WITH UNI STUDENTS.

Sorry to take you task on the above, but just because you have what i would call a negative/jaded whatever you want to call it out look on “the scene” dosent mean thats actually whats happening, you back up these negatiove feelings with some facts (because of your job as i understand it) but if im correct i dont think youve been partying for sometime,

there are still new crews cropping up, up & down the country, people still getting away with parties every weekend, there is plur out there! you just gotta get amongst it!

apologies again, but sometimes the light needs to banish the dark!
