had this for about a week constanitly now, anyone else ever had this. Starting to get a tad worried.
Its a bit like the very high pitched buzz you sometimes get from electrical equipment. Its not massivly loud, but loud enough to hear over the radio.
sounds like tinatus

yeah thats why I am so worried/shit scared.
tinitus or a pressure issue in the middle ear…try to flush your noose with salt water, then pressurise and de-press…if it is still there, go to your doctor and get it checked

done all that apart from the salt water. Its exactly the same kind of ring that you get after going to see a rock band live or something. Except that always went in a day or 2. Dont think its noise induced however, it just came on on its own.
Think I will have to go to the doctors
sound like that you need that. could be just a minor virus so do not worry before you get anything confirmed…

cheers man fingers crossed
I have permanent tinitus in my left ear
Look after your ears
1) Dont wear headphones on public transport where you have to turn it up loud.. in fact best leave headphones alone altogether
2) Wear ear guards in clubs and other loud places
Tinitus does come and go temporarily. Hope it’s the latter if it doesn’t go get your hearing test and they will confirm if it has been damaged. Fortunately treatments for tinitus are just starting to emerge so you shouldn’t be stuck with it for life
Hopefully this will be temporary but even so take it as a warning to look after your ears. And that goes for all of you! We are the first generation with personal stereos and there is going to be an epidemic of hearing trouble if we keep this up

I never wear headphones and never have for this reason. Hell I was the guy stood at the back of the free partys muttering “how do they know these sound levels are safe”. But I guess I have been to a fair few gigs as a younger man and a fair few raves/clubs over 3 years.
Gotta admit I really am quite scared about this, fingers crossed it goes. Do you find it hard to live with?
i would think that it’s not too hard to live with if it isn’t serious. it’s like when you get a sore or a cut, it hurts really badly at first but then your body learns to block out the pain, even though it’s still there, you don’t feel it. your mind probably won’t even register the ringing after a while but you’re youngish though, aren’t you? so i doubt it will be serious or permanent 🙂 good luck.
(btw.. i don’t know if what i said has any scientific truth.. i was just kinda making an educated guess :P)

I am 25, hope you are right about it being tolerable/not permanent
and anyways, if it is the worst (which, at 25, i doubt it will be), there’ll be able to do something about it soon. all the amazing technology we have like.. nanoparticle cancer therapy, sorting out an ear is probably easy peasy.

You’re probably ok then, clubs and gigs alone won’t do it, for me it took listening to headphones on really loud volume about 10 hours a day for 10 years (i listened to music all day at work on headphones too)

Personally I got used to it, I only notice it when it’s quiet like if I’m in a quiet room by myself (this rarely happens in london) or going to bed.
I decided early on I’m not going to let it bother me. Its definately not a problem to live with the ringing itself, just I have to take a lot of precautions now to prevent further damage. Ear plugs on the tube, special ear guards for doing gigs, fingers in ears every time a police car goes past, no more mp3 player use etc. The ringing itself is a minor inconvenience compared to all that!
