In the area it was occuring I could see the comedy value of getting folk riding round in circles, but unfortunately some of todays youths don’t stop at this, eventually someone will the idea to try and lead folk on a detour so they can get them into a unfamiliar area and rob their bikes. its normally only one person out of a group but they can cause a lot of shit as others follow them.
This happens in London already and there is a metpol task force against it, so the cycling club put a stop to the diversion of signs before it got out of hand. since then the signs stay correct, and without any youths having to be clouted with a spanner, so everyone is happy.
These days they start off doing stuff like playing knock down ginger but when a grown up comes out instead of running away they give them abuse and even a slap or two if there are a lot of them! many people don’t answer the door to randoms anyway not just because of this but because many “cold callers” are sizing up your house for what they could rob or points of insecurity, and folk who have the right to knock doors like posties and meter readers or the emergency services carry ID and can be checked out.
Actually some youths in SE England kept ringing doorbells of the sheltered houses and annoying the old folk, but they did it one day when there was actually a crime prevention meeting so the place was full of coppers and so they got nicked and cautioned :laugh_at:
