Out of curiosity I looked at the vacancies for our local constabulary (I wanted to see how the public sector cuts were affecting them).
They are unsurprisingly not recruiting new officers, but want calltakers and CPS clerks (I read in the paper today there is a problem with taking bobbies offf the shifts to answer phones which is reducing the number of avalable officers).
I was however most surprised to see this..
Suffolk Constabulary is committed to representing the demographics of the community it serves and would therefore like to particularly encourage young adults to apply for this post to address an imbalance it has identified within the organisation.
Although the cops have been getting increasingly “PC” with their recruitment efforts in the 20 years I have been monitoring their activities – I have never seen anything like this before :crazy_diz
and unfortunately I don’t even think its because youths are becoming that much more rebellious and anti-police, its because they aren’t recruiting cops any more but want the “boring/nerdy” admin jobs where folk don’t get the chance to use a bit of direct power and control…
