Renting doesn’t make a great deal of difference now and the cops will also try to get the rental company to make a statement basically incriminating/grassing the party organisers in return for handing back the equipment and not busting the rental company for collusion in the crime.

They do send folk down here for organising parties, especially if they don’t have full time jobs and are on benefits. Two of the lads what went down for parties were friends of mine as well..

one other chap in Essex went down in the early 2000s for the same licensing offences, an aggravating factor in his case was a dangerous mezannine floor that people could have fallen through and that it appeared the events were run on a quasi-commercial basis.

There have also been a few other people busted/sent down for drug dealing due to their association with certain rave crews – I’ve also heard that others have mysteriously ended up being sectioned (although to be fair they may have had their own part in this outcome due to being too stubborn and overdoing the use of the psychedelic RC’s and 2-C* type drugs)
