    ‪Secret Garden Party Criminals?‬‏ – YouTube

Do private security on private land have a legal right to restrain? no idea but I would guess they can given the way they treat people outside of pubs and clubs. Not sure what to make of that clip really. I would not say the behaviour of either party as very pleasant but then you do expect that from security and you do expect that from drunk people at festivals. Best not to piss the security off really. I would think they dont even need to give a reason to eject you from the site as its private land/licensed.

Sorry but this is just a bunch of daft middle-class hippies smart-arsing the security guards at a festival – what did they think would happen? In their own stuck-up way they’re just trying to get laid like most of the other people there. Get a grip.

    Yes.

Everyone has the right to make a citizens arrest on another person and use reasonable force to restrain them, and to use reasonable force to defend their private property. Whether it is a wise thing to do depends of course on the persons physical strength, their training in conflict situation knowledge of applicable laws and their availability of both physical and legal backup, as if done wrongly it can result in the person being either badly hurt or even killed (such as the older men who try and take on a large group of youths), or charged for false imprisonment and assault. Security guards are supposedly trained to know how far they can go, and to work together to minimise the amount of force used.

ADMIN CAN YOU PLEASE DELETE THIS POST

I cant see why it should be deleted.

    1. it is a good illustration of the problems that we as producers meets at the gates of the big parties we make.

    2. it show also how guests should not act. Interventions when its security involved, often makes more confusion than good.
Silent monitoring of this kind of incidents will have more impact of the end result, than screaming up for civil liberties. I am all for civil liberties but if you want to document a breach of this kind you do not intervene by screaming because then you will part of it all and not a objective witness.

    3. as for the security; they have a big lack of clear information brought out to the public. The lack of easy understood info just make more confusion for both guards and the guests….

So please let us keep it for educational use. I think it will be good for both sides. There are lessons to be learned for us all.

In addition to what Sinner has said I would like to point out that civility in any situation costs nothing and can be a very effective way of resolving issues.

Yeah, I’m not spreading that. It is shite how security at festivals is getting, but I’m not letting that daft wanker represent my opinions.

Also in the UK there aren’t enough festivals or events now to keep a security firm going on this business alone – so what you have nowadays are a mixture of guards with experience at music events, and your bog-standard rentaguard you would encounter in a shopping centre.

The second kind (although to be fair there are exceptions) aren’t always clued up about the music and drugs scene, and often have a negative view of drugs use because even many party drugs users who aren’t addicts do seem to go through a stage of impulsive behaviour including shoplifting and anti-social behavior in public, which of course brings them to notice of conventional security staff. So naturally these staff think “drugs are bad” and work with the Police.

Another recent factor is the Licensing Authority and the Police often have more input on what security firm is used than the organisers – again this is to prevent collusion and large amounts of drugs being brought onto site during the event.

so a big reason these guards are more “aggressive” than before at large festival events is because people keep shouting on forums and even to local and national newspaper comments that its easy to get drugs into them, and/or how fucked they got there – and the Police and Licensing read this and demand more controls or the event simply doesn’t happen.

Drugs are controlled the world over whether we like it or not. If we don’t like it we should be campaigning on the political front rather than making short term attempts to buck the system, especially when drug users remain a minority globally.

fair play its better up then not but it needs to be re worded a bit
