Hi, i’m looking for an underground techno club in London.
I’ve been doing a extensive research in the net, but I cannot find the kind of club I’m looking for…
I think the place I was seeking was The End, but it is closed now…
I like small and dark clubs, where people go to dance and to listen to the music rather that to try to get laid.
Nothing to do with Pacha, Ministry of Sound or that kind of clubs… I’m not looking for somewhere posh… and with no too many chavs, if possible.
The Fabrik perhaps was an option, but I think is too big?
Regarding to the genre of the music, I used to like that late 90’s early 2000 techno (surgeon, ruskin, mills, beyer, carola, downwards, tresor, etc)… but I could try anythnig that is sounding now, since It’s been a lot since I went to a club… 🙁
If you could give me any advice on this I will be very grateful. Perhaps I’m a bit too picky, but I’m sure I could find an ideal club in this city.
Cheers.
I don’t think it will be easy, after 4 years in London I still haven’t found one.. Thing is there is no consistent techno club with a distinct identity apart from Fabric maybe, unfortunately the crowd spoilt the place a looong time ago. Venues in London, even if technically well equipped, lack character and the better ones are always rammed up to the point there’s no room to breathe, not to mention to dance. The audience doesn’t care much anyway as they’re too busy with themselves chatting, boozing and shooting silly photos. Corsica Studios, which is constantly hyped as the best underground club in London and used by most notable techno promoters has long since turned into shithole stretched way beyond its limits.
Sure, if you’re lucky there might be fewer people and consequentially fewer dorks and the rest reasonably spaced, so there are exceptions. There are also some warehouse parties which might have more space and better vibe but these are far and between. Then there are squat parties which is everything I’d want from a party except the music.
I have lost faith in this scene.
The only option seems to be doing your own night specifically avoiding the degraded clubbers crowd.
I’m surprised of your response, as I expected something different from London, but I believe you, since it happened the same in Madrid.
We at least lived those beautiful years.
I keep saying it Dance Media – Dance Media
The liberator crew always have nights on in there of filthy underground techno.
Considering the list of artists in his original post, this isn’t the kind of techno the guy seems to be into (and neither am I). If he was though, the whole world of squat parties would be out there for him.
Hi there.
Yeah, that’s not the kind of techno I used to enjoy, but that does not seem I could not give it I try!. I’ll try to go to that party next friday.
Thank you!
Fair enough..
Give it a go!
Also tonight: Lost @ Plastic People, Plex @ Corsica Studios and Wavey Tones @ Bussey Building.. Might be up your alley.
Tomorrow: Techno Therapy warehouse party with Forward Strategy Group among others somewhere in Hackney, and then there’s also a soundsystem linkup somewhere in a squatted venue with a few quite good artists playing, e.g. Voidloss who does excellent techno livesets.
Hi!
actually I did not go… I went to Plymouth to visit some friends
There is a huge underground techno scene, they are illegal warehouse/squat parties, and in the summer they are outdoor raves.
I would like to go to this one but my best friend wont join me, so if you are interested let me know its the first outdoor party of the year and its free!!

Hey, new here too – been out of the game for a while (think i needed a break!) but now aching to jump back in and dunno where to start from – not so well connected any more in the scene. Just like garrapeta, I’m looking for ‘small and dark clubs, where people go to dance and to listen to the music rather that to try to get laid’ – or obviously finding good warehouse/outdoors parties would be great. Saw you mentioned some stuff here (link didn’t work tho) – tell more…….?
Really just looking for those awesome dirty-raw sound parties where you could dance for hours, no pretentious or commercial bullshit that spoils the whole thing, or people only looking to pull..
Based in Hackney, so guess I’m at the right place, but cool with going wherever. Again – just been out of it for a while, not connected any more and friends not really in same mindset too. Would be cool to connect with some good people on here or just get some leads..
Anyone?
Thanks!
