The west bank is the largest open air prison in the world?!

Yet Israeli boys get shipped off for 4 years mandatory military service, poor buggers.

As a Jew I find a lot of the fighting pointless. Not recognising Israel as a nation/state is petty because it doesn’t matter what anyone says, it’s there, it has a functional government, and people living there. No amount of sticking your fingers in your ears and going “I can’t hear you!” is going to make that change. Likewise, the Palestineans are settled on the Gaza strip and west bank and they’re not going away either. So instead of flinging rockets at each other and killing people they should all accept that this is the way it is and work towards a harmonious future.

Of course, that’s not going to happen any time soon, because pride gets in the way, among other, more complicated factors as well of course.

There not going anywhere because they cant, put some thought in to it. Isntrael is about as legitimate as my own currency.

Hmmm… my own take on it is that, without the people who have been dispossessed by the creation of Israel, there can’t be a peace.

Genetic studies show there isn’t actually any difference between Israelis and Palestinians – physically they are the same people.

I say, “All the children of Abraham… all things/everything offsprung of the Most High”. Which is actually true even if you are an atheist.

Bit more positive than saying “Death to XXX” (insert bad person here).

The thing I don’t get is why Isntrael haven’t been taken to the court of human rights, like the usa, they are masters of mass genocide, hiroshima? Vietnam? West bank, Gaza? All the same situation, I’m not backing the palastinians, but I do think this is plain wrong. Brutal displays of mindless violence, hopefully they duck themselfs up soo much so that the peaceful world turns around.and says “you did it to yourself, don’t expect us to sort it out for you.”

If my comments upset people then I’m sorry, but I’ve had enough of this bollocks. It’s pathetic.

You’d have thought after 2000 years, the human race would have evolved past these stupid indifferences.

i think its hard to trust the ‘information feed’ so i try not to latch on to stuff too much…

i’ve been to israel 7 times so i’m probably biased now… i’m what you might call a ‘jewish sympathiser’… and this is such an epic long thing and there are many perspectives. i feel quite sorry for israelis. they are mostly broken families and even though the children are now 4th generation maybe since the holocaust, there is a broken energy in the family and in the country.

it all just seems to be based in; ‘my ‘grandad hated your grandad’ and ‘my gods better than your god.’ so my answer would be forgive and forget lives you didn’t live, throw your daft old books in the fire, break bread, eat hummus.

if you’re patriotic and ‘anti-israel’ it might be worth remembering that england (apparently) played a large part in making israel and deciding its location.

if you look at the size of israel, its just a thin slither on some massive continent, its a 5th of the size of england and half of it is desert that no-one lives in. im not into religion, but israel is the only jewish country in the world and i think they should have a safe place to live. i feel sorry for evicted palestinians, but they were evicted a long time ago now and there are many muslim countries.

but in answer to the question raised by mr p0ly, the land isn’t owned by either since ‘ownership’ is a concept of the mind. ‘ownership’ is merely a fair sounding way of saying you’re ‘temporarily hoarding/non-sharing.’

I just wanted PV opinions on the matter. Though as for the ownership thing you stated there’s a legal standpoint which must also be considered and is interesting.

England helped create Israel simply because we didn’t want too many Jews here fleeing from the war, (same as paranoia over Muslims today) and to try and encourage those which were already there to leave. It was only because many were and are high net worth individuals and/or good at business they were begrudgingly accepted into London and similar areas (my extended family are mixed Asian and Jewish!).

Many British right wingers especially the upper classes did not want to get involved in the initial stages of WW II because they felt it was a misuse of public money and our soldiers to save Jewish lives, and that Hitler was a democratically elected politician of a sovereign nation (this last fact, sadly is 100% true – he did not seize power by force (an attempt at such previously landed him in jail) but democratically gained power after a weak centre right coalition government in Germany failed following a economic depresson).

When a British Jewish politician called Leslie Hore Belisha in the Conservative Party (he also suggested that orange globe lamps should be put on road crossings, they are still named after him) was put into a senior War Ministry position and our troops were deployed, he was eventually hounded out of office and even the full support of Winston Churchill could not resurrect his political career.

Hitler was never really elected to anything though was he? The Nazis did gain more votes over time, but he was installed as chancellor by Hindenberg, not by election.

    hitler was well camp

No such place. International Criminal Court is only for countries that sign up to it and countries too weak do defend themselves against peacekeepers.

Guess who isn’t signed up to and have very large amounts of firepower to defend their turf? Yes, you were correct. Although the word “genocide” was actually coined by a Jewish American trying to analyse the Holocaust so it isn’t like every single citizen of those countries is bigoted beyond redemption.
