I’m really boring tonight and was watching some new trucks on internet.

The bottom right picture is a real stunner, a 1950’s Mercedes-Benz Unimog….

I love my trucks, I used to go to truck festivals and truck racing events when I was young.

oh oh yes lol I still have my 1997 DAF VIP all access pass from the ’97 Glasgow truckfest hahaha

At the time, my mums boyfriends brother worked for DAF over in Europe, and he can to my house in (what was then) the fresh of the line DAF XF95 480 lol we drove, me, mum, ali and his brother, all the way to Glasgow in this bloody truck! was so cool to rock up there in that beast hahaha

Nowadays I’m a Scania man, they make the best Diesil V8’s know to HGV’s, massive power, torque levels high than that which the planets were made with, and the noise…..to die for.

I’m being REALLY geeky. And I don’t care :laugh_at:

ahh even Da free-towns(Christiania) own Scania garbage truck is up there(the one on the left of the bus on the beach, full graffiti painted, picture no 106).

These days I drive a Merc. 709, long version, 8+1 passengers, with a double bed and loads of space for gear..It use to be a mobile studio for live transmissions for Danmarks Radio > DR(danish state radio and tv), it still have the original logo on lol, but mostly I drive Volvo busses.

My favorite trucks are;

-Scania, cool sounding engines(V8’s) and damn good gearboxes

-Volvo, very nice to drive and very reliable

-MAN, mainly because I started out driving them as a novice, they are a drivers truck and very power full when U know how to use them… they are not easy to get into but after a while it really gets U to Ur finger-tips and they overtake almost everything in the hills…

wow I used to work on the kit what went in the (newer) ones, though nowadays its rare to find a 7 500 Kg + truck used for this, a lot were sold off in the 80s and 90s and now everythings all crammed into 3 500 Kg small vans..

For those who want a truck, if you can get hold of a ex-outside broadcast van (often called a Scanner, particularly one what may have had a satellite dish on top). these are well worth getting as they are looked after and often have custom reinforcements and other useful bits. Whilst the broadcasting kit is normally hauled out and reused or sold elsewhere, the power infrastructure is often left in and that will be good for 230V, local batteries at 24V DC and sometimes even 400V. For Yayatribe maybe France Télécom (Globecast) sell off their old ones, though many are probably already bought by other enthusiasts, all the Globecast scanners I worked on were mostly small vans. She might need to get a larger vehicle driving license as well, this costs about €3000 in training (a friend of mine did it in England recently).

Sinner mate, I’d take a scania 141 V8 they sound amazing. But then again so does the T580 164L, Volvo, well the only time I’ve like there trucks was when I watched a video of mean green drag racing a ferrari lol
Man….I don’t like them, there dull looking and the sleeper cabs are uncomfortable, as is the DAF 65 sleeper cab, who ever it was designed for was very strange proportions….I do recall DAF making a ‘super space cab’ out of 2 95XF’s, was the shoddiest looking thing I’d ever seen, bloody massive inside but horribly put together.

The one is the scania longline, with the R720 motor….

You have never driven a MAN, have you? How much time do you spend driving and how much time do you spend in the bed sleeping? the XXL cabs of MAN is quite good when you get it tight up on the suspensions as it have a tendency to be a bit loose as default settings. MAN sequencial gearboxes is one of the best of the trade so before you start to diss them you should have a go at them in the hills of Kassel(germany) then you will know that what ever you drive the MAN will give you the back wheel because of the quick shift…
