  • Iv got bare money issues atm and realistically the only way I can go to any festivals is by working at them.
    I as thinking if its two eight hour shifts…plenty of time to get on it working around that?
    But that might not quite go as planned 🙁
    Any thoughts on this???

    i heard people talking about it at glade… some like you work one whole day and you can stay at the festi for the others… but apparently you need to leave a deposit in case you dont turn up for work so might not be good if you’re really skint.

    jump the fence.

    come in my bag. you have to be my pet though.

    You have to complete 3x8hr shifts at Glasto to get your ticket paid.

    Try and aim to work a gate, time will flyby and you’ll get chatting to a load of peeps.

    Alternatively, litter picking may suit, as your shifts will usually be outside of entertainment times.

    If you got the time;

    Go for build and tear down the festival, more hours (and a bit harder work, being a crew member gives you rights that others just can dream about) far more interesting than be a orange west during the festi. And you be free to go eyeballed without have to think about being sober at certain times. + you often get a more comfy place to sleep and other goodies backstage….In fact I have never paid for a festival, I always works in some part of it and still have the time to get a fully load

    ..and I never wear a orange west, never

    Very good advice, though in England the relative lack of events (from festivals to even licensed clubs) compared to DK or NL (which are both way smaller countries) means that this sort of crew job tends to be jealously guarded and competed for by the event management companies, sound engineers etc. From memory to get this kind of position you would have had to know someone involved with the event.

    The same applies to all our creative/media industries – they really are not valued in England (it is slightly better in Celtic countries in the UK where they often have their own languages and music culture and music and arts are more valued) and it is not even just the Government to blame, many older people do not think much of music/entertainers, I come across worse attitudes than in some Islamic countries! It creates a vicious circle whereby those involved in the music scene get drawn into bad behaviour and crime / gangs because its only the underworld what would bankroll some risky ventures…

    Its hard to explain the bigger picture in a short post but look at it this way, although I have always been interested in languages, it is only comparatively recently I’ve gone to the effort of searching out info about media production from across the North Sea because every other European nation is now way ahead of the UK.

    I can be your retarded shoulder squirrel. If anyone says ‘sorry mate no pets’ Just be like; hey its a retarded shoulder squirrel pal’ then they’d be like..’oh yeah…well better come in then.’@p0ly 484706 wrote:

    I’v got enough monies to pay for it upfront but def need it back. I think il consider this, chears

    Tribal-Living is also a good place to ask about this stuff, though the arrangements vary from event to event. A festival is a normal UK commercial business and as such must comply to all the other rules about maximum hours, health and safety, human rights etc..
