  • Just a thread to see if anyone is going to Creamfields next weekend.

I will be there, looking forward to Porter Robinson, Avicii, Paul Van Dyk, and the rest!

So whos going and who you lookinng forward to seeing the most?

    : (

    OMG PVD!

to be fair the lad lives North of here and it seems relatively nearby so I can see why he is going.

if I ever decided to go to a big quasi-commercial EDM event I’d go to one in Holland due to obvious geographic proxmity and transport being cheaper.

Porter Robinson sounds more like a pint of real ale (and dissapointingly is not), and I probably only have one track by Avicii and maybe a couple by PVD.

I only got into trance at a relatively late stage and am sceptical of “Protestant Work Ethic House” – OK I will listen to it and mix it and its good well produced music but the philosophy behind it is a bit unnerving, its like ruthlessly well produced trance without the fun bit and a lot of fashion conciousness added with a ethos of “don’t enjoy yourself too much as you’ve got church tomorrow 😉

Quite a few of us will be here:

    Home | Shambala Festival 2012 | 23rd – 27th August

I like going to smaller (and cheaper) festivals these days, less hassle, nicer atmosphere, etc

but I hop you have a blinding weekend, different strokes for different folks is all :group_hug

if they did a smaller version of mysteryland with our local crews here (East Anglia’s DJ’s can genuinely supply all the genres if not the “big” names) I’d be there like a shot, but for the distance most events are away from me they might as well be foreign travel anyway….

too far for me anyway. I really hoe I get to go to the UM fest : (

I would like to go to Shambala, but all my mates are going to creamfields so I thought I may aswell go.

And tbh to me its not just the music its the whole festival atmosphere I love, where ever that may be.

to be fair I think creamfields is way nearer to itsamagicthing and his friends. A mate of mine on another forum (OK he does drive a large converted motor van of 7500 kg weight) just posted about how he had to abandon his plans for one festival as the cost of diesel would be a 3 figure sum, and he is in regular work. The cost of fuel and transport anyway is shocking (and I don’t even currently drive, but I can see the price at the pump and even bicycle parts have gone up in cost recently due to a variety of factors). Trains are shocking expensive here too and I am supposedly a high earner for the region.

so travel costs for young students are not insignificant and I can see why a group of friends would pick something relatively near…

Well the day has arrived, setting off in 1 hour! Can’t wait to get wasted and covered in mud 😛

Remember to take loadsa photos!

this was tweeted by local cops…

suffolkpolice RT @cheshirepolice: When heading to #Creamfields use junction 11 or 12 of the M56

one one level there’s nothing bad or sinister here – its simply traffic cops working together to keep young drivers safe, but I can’t help but think if there weren’t so many fucking NIMBYs in this area (I don’t even blame the Police as they only enforce licensing laws, they don’t make them) then there wouldn’t be such a issue with traffic congestion and confusion over being in a unfamiliar area which is what this tweet hints at – its also another clear sign of a rich area pushing “problematic” events and their fans into a poorer one..

entry locked off due to torrential rain, site crawling with cops who have invoked major incident (disaster) protocol! (although all festivals have to have plans for this sort of thing hence why licensing is so difficult)

its now fully locked off and being evacuated…

Just got home, covered in mud. Shame today didn’t happen 🙁

Had an amazing time Friday and Saturday though!
