i want to take my son to Glastonbury next year, he will be 13 this September. im not happy at the prospect of paying 200 quid when he has only just passed the pay threshold! does anyone know what the deal is on the gate? will they insist on ID for him? also really dont fancy buying my ticket and having to turn home on the day because they wont let him in, would rather just pay up if this is likely! hope you can help!!:crazy_diz
I don’t think they can separate your lad from you and turn him away singly as its against UN rights of the child, but if they wanted to be arsey (bear in mind theres a permanent economic depression) they could claim you are trying to defraud the ticket sales.
That said as citizens’ ID is not compulsory in this country its normally only the high school age kids who carry ID cards of various sorts I don’t know how they check kids ages other than for obvious stuff like stopping older teens buying age restricted drinks. I’m sure I’ve seen databases for marketing where they have at least a guess at the age of all family members in a house, it could be over 16/18 though, not 100% sure but somewhere like glasto is big enough and powerful enough to have this info and can ask for (or has info) off something from you like a drivers license..
Also does he really want to go? of course our generation may have fonder views of glasto but its a big commercial festie these days.
Tribal-Living has lots of info about much more kid friendly and cheaper festivals more in line with the original ethos of these things..
i’d have probably paid full price rather than admitting i look 12 when i was 18 lol
