fair play to them for actually offering a salary – one annoying thing even in the better days of the 90s was that many media companies expected interns to work unpaid, meaning unless you had rich parents to subsidise you entry was impossible into the production side.
Luckily engineering wasn’t seen as “cool” until the dot com boom so I briefly had a career in this but even that disappeared.
when I was in public service my trade union had a “young members network” originally for age 18-30. I was about 31 or 32 at the time, and complained to the Union rep about being classed as “too old” – I successfully got the entry age for this raised to 35 (not just for the SE but the entire Union across the UK).
