I can only afford a second hand Iphone

my android is fucked and I am tried in to a contract, guarantee run out, and got another 8 months to go, so decided I want an iphone

anything specific I need to look out for? any specific scams that people are aware of?

Alot of people have been mugged of on ebay. You could find one on gumtree and meet the seller in person.

I’d try looking on here, although their next event in in Belsize on the 29th. they don’t directly sell second hand phones but have these gatherings where folk either try to get broken stuff repaired or reuse obsolete kit and might be able to source some sort of phone.

also at least some iphones have a different kind of SIM way smaller than even the normal one.

the green fair looks brill (our local one went for years and years (I think about 20) until the bastard council stopped it 2 yr ago as the weather was so bad and they lost money :cry:) and I know that area really well as lived around there for a bit, many moons ago,

but I am going here on the sat

I was thinking “hmm, that is north of the river” and being originally from South London myself can remember that crossing it and getting around to the other side of London isn’t as trivial as non Londoners would think…

they also do them in Brixton. if you want and I can find his details somewhere I will try and ask Ugo when the next one is or if he knows trustworthy sources of second hand mobiles..

after more looking – this is proving to be the main difficulty – so thanks again for the heads up as I did not know this!! –

and as I am locked in to a contract I would need a phone that takes the same sim,

so I have given up on the quest for an iphone at the mo and complained to vodafone stating I’ve been a loyal customer etc etc so I will see if there is anything they can do as my phone is faulty and shite, and if not sit tidy and wait and then leave and get a better contract elsewhere!!

All I need to do is buy a sim cutter….

and a very close (trustworthy) mate has upgraded and offered to sell me his phone….
only thing is its a 4, so I might not be able to afford it – so waiting to see how much he wants for it

my technique for getting 2nd hand phones is i just take (am kindly given) my friends’ old phone(s)… for me there is no worthy update of a phone, only exploited rats

No not crazy, just don’t buy in to the hype about a computer that:
A. You can’t upgrade. You have buy a new one if you want the latest hard wear, you can’t just mod it.
B. I tunes………THEE shittest music format I’ve ever known M4a is utter crap.
C. The price doesn’t justify the tech. For half the price of an air book I could get my friend to build me a custom pc.
D. The shitty company policies.
E. The iPhone is just an accessory. It’s like the latest fashion.
F. The things are very poorly built. I could take one part in 2 minutes easy. And I can guarantee they don’t go back to gather properly.
G. The fact you have to pay and extra £30 for the charger adapter for the new iPhone.

I. The battery life is shocking. Even my HTC out guns one and I’m always on it.
J. Apple can remotely fry your phone/MAC/whatever. If your doing something they don’t like, such as providing freeware, they can effectively terminate all your data. And then sue you for copywrite infringement.

So in the end…..Apple suck horse cock…hard. at least with android its freeware, so I can install Linux on to my phone.
