Party Vibe

Being from an ethnic minority (but English born and equally proud of this as much as being Asian) and grown up before political correctness I’ve had to deal with attitudes to race (from my family as much as white people, my Dad was wary of both black people and also some whites as both were “lazy and untrustworthy”, and would prefer to hang around with various Chinese friends from a restaurant. but it didn’t stop him, at least in his youth, from having many white hippy friends for obvious reasons)..

I think things got better for a bit during the economic good times of the 90s but today the whole situation is bleaker than people want to admit – tolerance has slipped especially since the war and economic depression following the millenium.

some people from formerly dominant ethnic groups are OK when the ethnic person is serving them food or in a subordinate position, but you can sense the tension when they are their boss, or they encounter someone from a ethnic group who has done well in life (even through hard work). and I’m sorry to say this but I have encountered far more judgmental and ignorant attitudes from those on the party/drugs type crowds than from normal young people what go to college and/or hold down jobs and maybe only drink moderately, its like some of todays so called party folk positively revel in being ignorant and dumbed down….

and a lot of folk say “its the drink / drugs talking” which is bollocks, yes taking these lowers peoples inhibitions but it also shows their true selves..

there are loads of more open minded people like this in my area to be fair, its just that they don’t take drugs or go to parties any more! (some did but have grown out of it). or if they are younger they don’t want to. Bear in mind I’m only 10 miles away from TOWIE land and that has a big impact on many attitudes. Not everyone in EA is like that so decent folk distance themselves from that sort of culture.

I think both sides haven’t come out too good from it. Although these girls are undoubtedly ignorant this really isn’t a subject for “light hearted banter”, as folk really do feel passionate on both sides and those girls are a soft target TBH. This is lazy journalism no better than Daily Fail crap or even much of the latest Grauniad content which appears merely to want to stir up further social conflict claiming its “debate”.

You wouldn’t get this sort of article in many North European countries – for one thing in many nations there are laws against glorifying on the hard right (though still permitting history teaching and the existence of legitimate political parties of all spectrums).

But the right would also put forward some stunning blonde Aryan girls who would put forth a very articulate well argued case for “limiting immigration on a feminist libertarian perspective” (especially using stereotypes against Muslims and other Eastern cultures) and be good eyecandy as well. and yet they can also put across a submissive image (less usual for North European girls) which will attract the young men that prefer traditional gender rôles (and there is a trend back towards these especially in DE and NL).

This is why the so-called “nanny states” have to step in, remember their politicians are of the generations what had to fight, and this fight goes well into the 1980s and 1990s. The social democratic female politicians which Northern Europe is famous for had to fight their battles against the elders of these right wing girls since the 1930s!!

Across the whole of Europe there are right wingers with brains too, who are not stereotypical knuckle draggers. in our country you won’t find them in the BNP, or even the UKIP, they might not even join the Conservative party. and many of them have done well in life and business and use this power to preserve racial divisions, without overtly resorting to extremist violence like what has happened in NO, DE, GR, FR, IT, RS since the economic depression (so they stay under the radar, as for all the faults of the “feds” they are aware of the threat to the UK from far-right extremism).

Many are aware of the Empire etc and are unrepentant.

In BBC news a while back there was an article about Asian owners and others with “non-British” names having to Anglicise their names to get business. There was British Asian dude from Birmingham who runs an engineering company had a sales meeting with prospective customers who had driven all the way from London in January when there was fuckloads of snow and bad driving conditions (its not exactly cheap fuel wise).

As soon as the customers saw that it was a British Asian owned business, they walked away without a word and a handshake and literally got back in their cars and drove all the way to London. This wasn’t in 1952 or 1982 (where perhaps it might have been expected) but 2012.
