this goes with the racket he gets in his garden..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMNpLq4zvC4
it is actually a song about the mating habits of cats in a garden, in spite of the dude pelting his shoes at them they end up with 8 cats in the end (the original pair + 6 kittens)..

Thats German man 😉
I know, but for some reason the first song reminded me of it. 🙂
English, Dutch and German are closely related languages and there are some dialects which are a bizzare mixture of all 3 found in many Northern European countries. One reason I decided to learn Dutch as its easier than German (which I have some basic knowledge of) – many words and sentences to do with engineering and electronics are mutually intelligible across both languages. Ist very easy, alle deze talen en grammatica to mix together by accident, especially if you sip as a Tomcat [1], thus have you many Biers gedronken.
[1] zuipen als een kater – to drink like a tomcat (kater) this also means a hangover in both NL and DE.
This is a newer folk song (in Drents dialect) – these chaps decide to go for a bike ride on a summer day, and end up riding 70km – at one point they go straight over the border to DE and back into NL (where the big grey line is on the map below)

I am Schnappi, the little crocodile
I come from Egypt, that’s situated right on the river Nile
First I layed in an egg
Then I sna-sna-snapped my way to freedomSchni Schna Schnappi

I have sharp teeth, and many of them
I snap and snatch everything I can reach
And I snap because that’s what I do bestSchni Schna Schnappi

And show her how good I can snapSchni Schna Schnappi

I can’t believe i just watched that, half way through i was gonna stop it but then i thought there’d be a crazy plot twist like the duck gets mutilated and sold to chinese people to be sold in chinese takeaways across the nation. Alas, it didn’t happen.
I remember being taught that in playgroup and some infant/junior schools in the 1970s, even then it was thought of as controversial (although the mice did get married first before producing all those offspring)..
There is as you would expect a Dutch version, it was one of the first things I listened to when learning Dutch as its a near direct translation of the English version.
