    Ryan questioned Craibe about Salvation Story: Salvationist Handbook of Doctrine, the manual used to train Salvation Army “soldiers” and members. Several chapters refer to the sin of homosexuality, including a section that cites Romans 1:18-32, which includes a admonition that homosexuals “deserved to die”;

    “ Ryan: According to the Salvation Army gay parents deserve death. How do you respond to that, as part of your doctrine?”

    “Craibe: Well, that’s a part of our belief system.”

    Ryan: So they should die.”

    “Craibe: You know, we have an alignment to the Scriptures, but that’s our belief.”

    I really love how religion promotes tolerance and peace!

    Most people think of the sally army as the charity that runs in the UK that help people in despair. The title you have put is misleading. (something tabloids do )

    OIC my bad. More religious shite then.

    They work in over a 120 countries, with so many different sections. The UK salvation army may not agree with what some of the US salvation army says or dos.
    These people do not speak on behalf of the entire sally army.

    Clearly different people will hold different viewpoints within the organisation.

    they would not be able to express such views as at the very least they’d lose hundreds of thousands of donations and at worse the spokesperson could get arrested. That I expect would be the case in most of Northern Europe

    Even so as Richard Hawkins is well known in the UK their press office should at least make a statement distancing themselves from the statements of the Americans, as our common language and shared cultural aspects could lead to a lot of confusion.

    My apologies I was thinking of a completely different organisation the whole time.
    Well I feel embarrassed. :shy:

    What a bunch of wankers anyway. (Not in the literal sense some appear to have a problem with that)

    I seem to recall a documentary a couple of years ago (a Mark Thomas one I think) that did an expose on the Sally Army in the UK and they are just as bad as the Americans when it comes to things like that. There was a woman on the show who was Nigerian and went to the sally army for help / accommodation and they were willing to help her until they discovered she was a lesbian and then they suddenly changed their tune and started trying to make her repent of her ‘sin’. They’re a fucking disgusting bunch who hide behind adverts that make it look like they’re the only ones who give a fuck at Christmas time. Bollocks to ’em!

    Oh wait it is them, well shit I had no idea. ( a friend of the families received quite a lot of help from them a few years back.)
    I thought they paid more attention to jesus’ teachings as apposed to the old testament teachings. Frankly sir I am shocked and appalled.

    I am sure they do a lot of good work to but as with most faiths literal interpretations of their texts seem somewhat repulsive.
