  • I deffo think we should try and host a minecraft server for PV members. We could build such an awesome town. Imagine the creativeness and the expression we could come up with using the blocks to make our own wacky houses. Also I could have fun burning down Daft’s house.

Think about it, everyone could play it as you don’t need a mega PC to run it and it’s not all about killing. : )

I found this last night lmfao! …

Why go and ruin a great game like Minecraft with stupid guns. 🙁

What’s involved in hosting one of these?

I would assume a copy of the game and the server files which I think would come with the game. I will look into it in a bit if you like. It’s something to think about maybe.

I just tried the demo and don’t really get it, all I’ve done so far is found some seeds and punched a sheep a couple of times.

If you look on the minecraft wiki page it’ll tell you all the recipes for stuff you can make. Basically you dig holes in the ground and collect stuff you mine, then build bases and fight other people/clans.

it’s pretty fun one you’ve got started. Can be a little slow at the begining, but once you start to know how to do everything you can speed up starting on a new server and it’s more fun.

If I punch the sheep enough times can I use it in any recipes?

thats real life for most of East Anglia outside the urban areas of Ipswich, Felixstowe, Stowmarket and Lowestoft :laugh_at: (and the only reason it doesn’t happen there is in the civilised areas digging holes will either hit a 11000V electric cable or let in the North Sea so its highly discouraged).

Yeah thing is about the demo is where it is web based flash type thing, it really doesn’t do the full game justice. Trust me mate once you get building something you get carried away as if you are playing with lego and making something super cool. The demo only lets you play survival mode and doesn’t have any of the cool things like mining for precious minerals etc. There is also creative mode that gives you unlimited everyting and you ca fly about to build things and not die. I haven’t played it for ages now but when played with friends or in a community, that is where the magic happens. 😀

The even have a program where kids get to play it in some schools now I believe.

My Nephew gets told off if he does naughty things like punching sheep. The sheep produce wool, but you need to make a pair of sheers to sheer them now : )

@ rafty. Fighting other groups isn’t really what it’s about unless you are into that kinda thing. Most the good servers are the non PVP servers. If I want to fight people I play arma or battlefield LOL

Guess you just love to kill -_-

thats the same here as well (the county has its own local breed of sheep which has been exported to the entire World)

Suffolk (sheep) – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

it will drop wool (Sheep – Minecraft Wiki), if you punch a cow enough times it drops a nicely pre cut fillet steak you can cook it to eat in a furnace or similar that you made out of stone lol.

Have you got into the wilderness yet on the server you are in? Once there you can punch a tree till it yields it’s wood, then make a work bench when you have enough wood (you have to process the wood in your inventory first), then make a wooden axe to cut more trees easier. Then you wanna make a wooden pick axe and a wooden spade.

    Then start digging …

note: as soon as you get a few bits of stone remake your tools but with stone ends … you might also want to make a sword and some armour too ….

That + the recipes should keep you occupied for a bit.

Oh yeah, as soon as you#ve got some coal, make some fire torches so you can see where you’re mining. It’s also a good idea to build a home somewhere and have a look at the server instructions of how to make a faction and claim land (to stop other people from destroying your house eaisly, I’d get the land before you build on it tbh.

    have fun 😛

There’s no such thing as a good non pvp server. 😛

A scenario where computer techies punch things until they get what they want actually seems like the working environment of many East Anglian high tech companies (Sir Clive Sinclair and Herman Hauser from Acorn actually had a punch up during the 80s at some big IT conference that Thatcho had funded and had to be separated by security staff and warned by cops).

When times got bad for the rat salad park lot (British Telecom) the cops (who had only just sorted out the problems on the housing estates of Nacton and Kesgrave) were kept very busy (including dealing with the aftermath of a couple of murders….) Even when I was in SE England during the first round of downsizing at one employer the fed had to be called in at the Christmas party as folk decided to attack each other…
