[h=1]Wait A Minute, Mr. Postman: Sealed & Secure[/h]Posted by Chris Priestman × July 29, 2013 at 10:20 am
Do you trust me? How about your local mailman? If you said yes to both of those questions, then you should immediately go and play Sealed & Secure (download link). No, really, you don’t need to know anything more about it than it involves playing a mailman delivering the post around a small rural community. Just like Postman Pat (does the world outside the UK know of this cultural icon?).
That’s, uh, that’s all there is to the game. Honest.
It’s lovely. You wake up at 6:15 am every day, grab the post, hop on your scooter, and then deliver it to the houses. Unfortunately, you only get to click on the ground you’d like the scooter to travel to, and not actually drive it yourself, which was disappointing to me. But it’s made up a little as you get to drag the mail through the postbox and hear it clang on to the floor. Yes, that’s right; REALISTIC mail-hitting-the-floor sounds. What a game!
Just to warn you, I’m going to spoil the game a little bit after the picture below, so don’t say I didn’t warn you. This is definitely a game you need to play without knowing anything about it.
Don’t you just love games that surprise you? I’m glad that they’re able to keep doing it. And I’m surprised that more games don’t mask as being something simple, and then morphing into a different type of game over time. It’s worked before, and it continues to do so. In this case, we’re a simple mailman doing our job, UNTIL we get home after that first long day of work to find a package at our door that teaches us about the potentials of being a mailman.

“If you’ve ever wanted to deliver the mail in a small rural town, then this is the game for you!
Play through approximately ten days as the postman in Lawrence, BC.”

The next morning, as you go to hop on your scooter, you notice there’s another option next to “Deliver.” It’s “Open.” Oh, that’s a bit naughty, isn’t it, opening the mail of your customers? But who would know? You could probably get away with a bit of snooping. You live a boring life, and this is some mild excitement for you to look forward to every morning! So you end up in the kitchen, boil some water in a pot, and then steam the letters open and get to reading.At first, things seem a little boring, but trust me; a narrative starts to emerge, and it takes some unexpected twists and turns that sees the community change over the ten days the game spans across.
I would have loved to have seen more ways to interact with the events that happened over the week, such as burning letters so they don’t get delivered, and then observing as this changes the outcome, or doesn’t! But what’s there currently is ample enough for the SA GameDev VIII competition, at least. Some further development after the competition is over would certainly be of interest. It gets a little creepy; you may even worry for the mailman’s safety, but all is revealed at the end. But, unfortunately, the ending seemed like a bit of an obvious cop-out to mem nearly as bad as it “all being a dream.” The journey was great, though. And I love that the game is more than what it initially seemed to be.

whats the point since you told me what happens >>
Well you told me you weren’t gonna play it anyway. I’m sick of your mind never being made up. Time to go in the refrigerator!!
I’ll have a bit of a look but I never did manage to save my date. She always died, nailed to the floor in my basement, standing in a baby bath!
LOL I never got past dinner.
This game is a bit different. It’s one of those ones where you just have to do the obvious thing to adfvance the story.
Also I have just been playing The Stanley parable. Now that is a crazy damn game. I don’t really know what the point of it is. But it had me in stitches. You can download a free demo from steam. If you like it give me a shout and I can help you out ; )
I want you for your body not your games.
Off topic, but I downloaded Scania truck driver simulator, its really funny, the glitches are classic….half rendered trucks falling out of the sky, trailers flying out of tree and other really strange stuff.
