Originally there were two RPIs in the studio – one is being used as a master clock display and part of the signalling; but I decided in the end the second one and its the extra display were overkill and took up too much room (and ended up in a hard to get at corner) so it is on my bedside table as I’m using its GUI desktop and the IDLE IDE to improve my Python (as the project I’m working on is growing I’ve previously been editing code at the command line which isn’t always easy) It can also program Arduino boards (albeit with the current Raspbian giving you a much older IDE); so I knocked this up out of some bits I had lying around which I needed to test anyway
I’m determined to find a use for that old phone dial as part of a “1970s steampunk” type control system…
I can’t even share the code yet as I’ve no idea how to connect the RPI to the NAS or any SMB shares (it isn’t anything special TBH; I haven’t even added any proper digit collection or timeout procedures) – but at least the two bits of kit “talk to each other” which is what I need
Apologies for video quality; its difficult to hold the phone steady and the box with the dial in..
