it is a lot easier than “back in the day”; although I was more likely to be coding in 6502 asm as my high school had BBC micros.
I couldn’t afford a Amstrad/Schneider anyway:cry: but towards 1989/1990 did try Z80 coding on a second hand Spectrum with Interface 1, microdrives (some bizzare things which used a loop of magnetic tape) and some other assembler; I fixed the lot into an A4 box file and would take it along to school; in 6th form there were study rooms with these colour TV sets that I could use for a display. I was trying to write a platform game but it was a lot of hassle as every time I made an error and crashed the thing it took a few minutes to restart the lot. So having a dual screen modern PC is luxury in comparison raaa
