  • Today, this day, not any other, there are around 2000 EDL morons marching through my home town, I just got a call from a good friend of mine (a gay, muslim, who works in a pub) saying that they have taken measures to causing racial tension, so anyone in buckinhanshire country capital….STAY IN DOORS.

thanks for the heads up (although nowadays I live 200km away from all this)

back in the day I would have done the same except I’d more likely have heard of it when I turned on my radio scanner in the morning and heard one of the VHF channels (that could be received as far as Reading) active as “HB Silver Command” or similar.

You can’t do this any more since 2005 because of the Airwave equipment; more worrying is that TVP and many other constabularies comms is underresourced as once again the govt didn’t listen to their scientists and engineers explaining carefully that you need approx double the infrastructure for secure/encrypted wireless equipment, as of 2004/5 TVP had revered to a flawed command structure that had already failed to guarantee public safety during various incidents in 1980s.

in a climate like this posts like what Gaz has written can save lives and prevent people being injured.

Good for them. everybody has the right to voice there opinions/thoughts and ideas. thats what make this country great.

(i in no way endorse or support these bigoted idiots)

that is true but I lived in the same region of SE England for much of my life from 1970s to early 2000s; and have personally seen all sorts of campaign groups of all political spectrums and races/religions (as well as the rave scene) be hijacked by angry young men who just want to start trouble.

Everyone from the footy hoolligans to the animal rights/environment/peace movements etc. It got especially sketchy during late 1990s when drugs started becoming part of that scene; you really didn’t know who you could trust (attempts by undercover coppers to infiltrate things were small potatoes). the worst of it was people who switch sides depending omn who is winning.

at the same time (I’m English by birth but Asian by ancestry) I’ve got a lot of friends who were footy hooligans/NF etc back in the day but realised that was stupid and by the 2000s we used to put on warehouse raves together….

To be fair all the people in Thames Valley area and East England (where I now live) and the rest of our country deserve some credit that the nation has not kicked off that badly or had serious riots (2011 incidents were confined to some areas of England only). given all the global turmoil that has happened in 30 years. One thing that England can take credit for is that genuinely violent extremism is uncommon.

in Germany, the Netherlands and Scandinavia and other mainland European countries [whose folk I otherwise have a lot of respect for] people don’t always do stuff like marches etc. They just go and shoot at the people they don’t like or burn out their property.

Whilst that has also happened in Thames Valley area it is very rare compared to elsewhere in Europe and if things do kick off those who cause it get nicked fairly quickly whereas in mainland Europe it can take 20/30/50 years before they are brought to justice.

    yeah agree.

I didn’t really think before posting but i wasn’t being facetious. Just believe that free speech applies to all and every one should have the right to express themselves.

The division that all mankind faces really is our undoing. Hate these right wing sons of bitches.

TBH the left (at least when I grew up) could be equally bad; I can remember how the “trendy leftie” types at my high school would just about accept Asians into their circle of friends but at the same time judged them because they tried to balance rebellion against authority with not pissing off their parents/family too much and many were thus viewed as “Thatcherite lackeys”. In my Dads era many on trade union circles were openly hostile to immigrants to the point he ended up voting for Thatcho.

OK I am a bit older than many on here so can understand if folk may not be aware of this and there has been a lot of effort in Britain to change things but I think it has added to the divisions in todays society even 30 years later.

BTW you also get (or did get) Asian EDL members in that area; but they were the Hindus/Sikhs etc who would use the march as a excuse for busting in the windows of a Muslim owned restaurant and then say to TVP “the bald white guys did it”.

It appears any actual points and issues that need addressing get lost in the quagmire that is stupidity.

    More fool them.

We are all the same. i hate the way society divides us and puts us into groups.

We’re all humans are we not? It’s when people can’t accept that and get along that I get annoyed. I do mock various races and religions but all equally I hope and none wqith ant malice, they are free to think what they like as long as they don’t pyush it upon others who don’t want it pushed on them, or obviously hurt anyone. I am also ready and waiing for any mocking directed at me or my race or water so I* can fee; equal to everyone.
