Just had to pay my talktalk bill over the phone thanks to them having their website hacked. They initial said around 4 million customer details had been pilfered but a recorded message saying no credit info or email addresses )not sure on the 2nd one but whatever) but as they initially said up to 4 million details then obviously the hackers exfiltrated something from their network otherwise they;d have said nothing was taken (firewall logs etc. will show what or how much went). so I asked the customer services chap what WAS nicked. I didn’t expect him to know really so just listened to whatever he said and put the phone down. Few minutes later a supervisor rang back asking about my experience with the rep etc. and after mentioning them being hacked a few times said the rep was good etc. and when asked if I had anything more I asked him what was stolen. He started saying they were all sorry etc. and no credit card det….. till I stopped and said that you know they weren’t stolen, but you do know somwthing was stolen so what was it. He mentioned some databases which had me ask immediately if they were password databases that were taken to which he just replied “yes”.
If that monkey that rang me isn’t just a clueless mouthpiece then that could be bad. I don’t know what practices talktalk use to secure passwords but if you have a talktalk account then consider thinking your password has already been cracked, hope like fuck you don’t use that same (and probably laughable) password over multiple websites and when talktalk finally get their massive attack target/website sorted, change your password there as well.
Metpol and PSNI have just turned over a family house in NI and nicked a 15 year old boy in relation to this incident. Of course the lad is innocent until proven guilty but its not trivial for the cops to justify going from London to NI and carrying out a raid of this nature (especially with the current situation in that country) and doesn’t say a great deal for the security in place at this ISP.
Yea the wee kid is from my home town, wee fucker will prob end up with a job by the end of it lol
A few more teenagers, from London and Norwich have been nicked for this as well (the total being 4).

possibly but not a particularly well paid one for someone with those skills – with the UK going back to the 1980s and a bunch of idiots elected in London and where this is based it may be doing something that is ultimately only going to cause more grief across the country than the data theft.
The English lads if they get charged and found guilty are more likely to get short prison sentences in HMPYOI (young offenders), probably Feltham or Reading for the Londoners/SE England ones and Warren Hill for the East Anglian lad.
Such sentences are often completely fucking pointless in these cases as they get exposed to bullies, abusers, political extremists so any sociopathic views they held will obviously be amplified; they could well end up committing worse crimes and even if they do not will be emotionally damaged by being put in prison and find their employment chances reduced to about 33%.
BTW The lyrics of this (from about 30 years ago) are actually about an informer in NI (on which side isn’t clear but it doesn’t make much difference) losing his own sanity due the the nature of his work.. (Michael Caine played the character of a MI5/6 agent Harry Palmer in many of his movies; which are far more true to reality than James Bond)…
Metpol and a special organised crime unit of the Heddlu (normally only deployed against the “Taffiya”) have nicked a youth in Wales in connection with this. unlike the others his charge is suspicion of blackmail; it is not disclosed if it is directly against Talk Talk or an individual whose details may have been exposed.

A fifth person has been arrested in connection with the investigation into alleged data theft from TalkTalk.
On Tuesday, 24 November, detectives from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit (MPCCU) and officers from Southern Wales Regional Organised Crime Unit executed a search warrant at an address in Llanelli, Wales.
The 18-year-old boy [E] was arrested at the address on suspicion of blackmail and taken into custody at a Dyfed Powys police station.
