She is of Latino rather than African American ancestry; but does have a long history of supporting racial diversity and defending other minorities.
There is also a high ranking black female judge somewhere in the USA (possibly TX where the shooting incident happened) with similar views who was in the news recently but I have forgotten her name and confuse her both with Judge Judy from 1980s TV (who isn’t black and is retired); and another woman on a similar US TV show who is black, but isn’t actually a judge.
She is to be fair particularly good at her job, has dealt with a lot of interesting cases over the years and in far more immediately dangerous situations (especially the civil ones where whatever judgment she makes would be costing people money…)
