As of now all drugs and sex sub-forums, the chat room and forum statistics table are visible and accessible to Member level users and above only including all search engines and fb registered members. The same goes for all banner advertising. I hope you like the change.
How many posts do you have to make to be a user? Just newly registered?
Member level requires 35 posts.
To give you some idea of what the change has done to our search profile have a look at the picture I’ve attached.
a couple of days ago out of curiosity I did a dip sample of some of the guests to see where their IPs resolved to (as I was waiting for a 12GB dataset from a remote server to download) – the activity patterns seem to be mostly more legitimate (a real human being who understands English looking at something that may be of relevance to them) and the bulk were from the UK, Europe and other nations not as much associated with viral marketing/bot activity, “entrepreneurs” trying to sell NPS or addicts/dealers in countries with less effective law enforcement.
The tech / computer threads (which I assume can be seen immediately) seem popular – incidentally this setup is very similar to the policies of many tech and electronics forums in UK, DE and NL that are aimed at slightly older communities – many of these have existed in some form since the 90s before online ads and commerce were common and are are still thriving 20 years later….
Yeah ironically right before I made the change there seemed to be a really significant peak in genuine activity. I don’t know where it came from but something definitely was up.
Given the amount of British users it may be related to the flawed New Psychoactive Substances Act and resulting media coverage creating more publicity and possibly former cathinone users curious about how many NPS are still legal..
I am wondering though if although this has deterred some of the would be drug dealers / purchasers (the folk desperate for cybersex seem to just post in chat anyway) it has also blocked people looking for harm reduction info (as the info M. relayed from a post of mine seems to stem from a genuine query about health issues related to MDMA use….)
I’ve noticed a massive drop in traffic since the forum policy changes (including the .com/.org forced split) although can fully understand why people like T. and N. (Edit!) do not post much.
T. is dependent for freelance work in a Middle East country where being on .org could get him in deep shit (including being blackllisted), N. now works for a tech company that is a major supplier of comms and surveillance equipment to the emergency services and military worlwide; I guess everyone else has “grown up and calmed down” to the point where minimum effort required facebook “banter” satisfies them.
Those “supercookies” Google Ads or whoever used around 2012 that matched up everyone from here with their linkedin, soundcloud etc even if they used adblockers and privacy software spooked a shit ton of people as there is still a lot of stereotyping associated with EDM especially faster genres – even in NL, I was reading about this comedy series called “New Kids” where the characters are all young adults who are into hardstyle etc but are depicted as klompenboeren with mullets who still drive 1990s cars :laugh_at:
I can’t help though but think its a sad reflection on modern society (rather than a fault of this site / the decisions made about content) that people aren’t even prepared to genuinely take part in the community bit to get at the drugs info – after all one part of harm reduction is impulse control and deferred gratification!
One thing that is impressive is in spite of global clampdowns on drugs culture and balkanisation of EDM into poor areas of countries (even USA is clamping down now because all the now illegal NPS is mixed in with the “molly” and is killing kids stateside) is that Partyvibe remains standing alongside the big corporate brands and the religious groups who are currently “winning the Internet” whilst so many alternative lifestyle sites crumble or are a shadow of their former selves..
I’ve made all the drugs sub-forums and a small number of the sex related ones accessible to all again today. Happy new year!
