Although for those concerned about saving water (which is a global issue) all modern European WC cisterns installed in the last 10 years often have two flush levels – and for those with only one the amount of water discharged is limited and there are other measures such as plastic “bricks” that can be placed within the cistern to limit water use (one UK water company was giving them away a few years ago).
I am not sure of the capacity of mine at home as it was replaced a couple of years ago – I don’t even know how to get into the damn thing (I need to adjust the flush mechanism as it is acting up so you must pump it like the heads on board ship) and haven’t yet looked up online for the instructions but I think it is smaller than the 1980s era one I previously had (the entire cistern and pedestal takes up much less room).
