Not sure what to make of this and/or WTF Amazon thinks I might be up to!
I had been looking at rosary beads but of better quality (I’m sure they weren’t in the toy section either) – as well as a “grown ups” pen case (to keep my fountain pens in) as well a cheap rubber snake and some rubber rats/mice but none of these are intended for any sinful purposes – the fake animals are to test an animal detector I plan to build (so I know when to watch for creatures in the garden and photograph them)

Better go with the pink beads GL.
I have a mala (basically a rosary without the cross) made out Yak bone!
Although openly wearing rosary beads of any colour does not cause problems round here, modern Ipswich is actually a hotbed of religious tolerance and harmony and the Catholics are pretty much all liberal “Vatican II” types (folk here have at least learned their lessons following the Reformation and former domination by Puritans) people would think I’ve just been released from HMP Chelmsford having found Jesus there, and then expect me to produce a ukelele out of my bike panniers and start singing modern Christian songs along with the Anglicans (who also use rosaries) at the ecumenical Christian stage of the youth music day :laugh_at:
See if you can make some money on the side panhandling and playing gospel songs.

Alas there is way too much competion round here.
Not sure if its as common in USA but we have this surreal mixture of Christian music and Britpop; it is like a more upbeat version of shoegaze (which makes sense as you are supposed to be looking up to Jesus rather than at your own shoes). A bit like Ed Sheeran / Mumford & Sons + God.
A great deal of the less obviously religious tracks/bands even finds its way into mainstream guitar pop aimed at teenagers and many vocalists do double duty on both secular and religious music.
it was only this year the music day had a declared “Christian stage” and that is likely only because of some licensing law regarding diversity and transparency. Before that all the guitar based bands were together on one stage and no one noticed.
Even funnier was one of the bands (these two sisters from a middle class bit of SE England) also turned up on Radio Maria Nederland live youth day broadcast the next year. As they do not know any Dutch they (along with various others) were interviewed in English by the presenter (who is proficient in both languages), but as these girls were trying to talk “street” (like Lily Allen minus the swearing) he had to apologetically explain on air that “he was unable to follow their accent” :laugh_at:
LOL gotta love people talking street to the point of incoherence, there are several regional dialects in America that I have trouble following, I imagine that if English is your second language it could get complicated quickly. If someone is actually about that life then it doesn’t bother me but those who do it to appear more ‘legit’ strike a nerve with many. Its like pandering in reverse.
Christpop isn’t as much of a thing here although certaintly present, but Country musicians pander to Jesus Freaks more than any other subset of artists.
