tert-Amyl Alcohol tastes like FUCKING PLASTIC, DUDE
So I just received 500ml of 2-Methanol-2-Butanol, and from what I had heard, it should have tasted like peppermint/ethanol. This shit tastes like you melted styrofoam and stuck it in a bottle. It also smells like that "new pool" smell, when you get an inflatable pool or some shit. Having my POOR self-control, I drank 12ml anyway, and am pretty fucked up right now, so that's a plus at least. :bitter:
Man, If I wanted to use an industrial solvent, I'd have made more chloroform.
Off topic question, but are we allowed to talk about syntheses on here?

I drink way too much..
I drink way too much now man. Every weekend for the past month or so i've drunk a bottle of vodka to myself (little bottle). Tolerance has got pretty ridiculous, though, this doesn't get me really wasted where as previously it would have done. I remember the days of 1 pint getting me tipsy. *Sigh* alcohol being readily available is shit.

Doing drugs/ alcohol at a school dance
We have a school dance and we are planning to get high/crossfaded during it. We are planning on smoking before the day activity and then before pictures where we will go to the dance after. All of our dates can't know that we are high.
The biggest issues include: one of our friends will be getting ready with us who doesn't smoke or drink (thats when we want to smoke) and our parents driving us around.

UK : East : 31 year old female fatal OD from alcohol
many people associate these sorts of incidents with far older people ; it was a bit shocking to see someone relatively young die from alcohol alone (instead of violence, road traffic incidents etc) but the deceased had a history of alcohol problems and could easily have been a heavy drinker for 15 years of more..

How much trouble am I in?
So last night I knocked out a traffic sign and got pulled over. He knew I was drunk, so he took me in. Once we got to the police station I blew a 32 (Yes, I realize that I'm a complete idiot.) So yeah I was charged with reckless, negligent, and drunk driving. I'm not going to jail am I? I mean I don't care if I have to pay fines or if I have to do community service or anything, I just can't go to jail. I'm a 21 yo white male (genetic lottery!) from Maryland without any criminal record aside from a traffic ticket like 3 years ago. Thanks gang. And if anybody has any advice in general it would be appreciated. And yes, I'm aware of how stupid I am, I'm seriously trying to get my act together but I just can't stop acting so impulsively.

Please, I really need some help.
So let me just give you a summary of my life this past year.
Went to Fl for rehab, then met a guy and moved with him. We got married (and are now separated) we started using again and about 8 months ago I became an alcoholic, had detoxed on my own with benzos, and have severe depression, anxiety and panic attacks to this day because of it.
I live on a couch with some people that aren't great friends, because I have no where else to go.
I got a prescription for ativan and its been helping with my anxiety.
I take it three times a day for about a month now.. and last night I drank.
I've read that if you have had alcohol withdrawals in the past and you drink on benzos you will withdrawal again.
I'm scared and lost and confused and tired of thinking I'm going to die at any moment.
I just want to fix myself and I keep messing up.
I just needed to get it out there, and it would be really nice if anyone has any kind words for me.

Drinking and clubbing
Ok, so the night is still young but I decided to end it early. I went out with a few friends, had the drinks flowing, went to the next venue and decided to end it there.
clubbig isn't what it used to be, maybe because I'm comparing it to raving, which is no match haha. So I get out the club where two friends are waiting for me, and a guy is kicking off, police end up arresting him, not to mention there was a fight in the club. So I find my friends and they decide to go get a kebab in which I wait outside and observe another frame going on, which ended up with 3 of this guys friend pulling him away before more bouncers came and docked the guy up.
shortly after, enjoying my cigarette which I ponced from an old school friend I ran into, still observing a guy comes up to me, talking to me about fighting and fucking someone up, blah blah blah, I thought he was talking about the bouncers until I find out he's trying to start on me. So now trying to be a much better person instead of putting him in his place where I would have two years ago, even a year ago my friend comes over, he says a few rude comments to her and I just walk away.
ive realised, even though I'm pretty drunk how much my patience and maturity has grown, so we run into him later and he starts on my friend, ignoring me while standing right next to him, we jump in the cab and that's the end of that.
so, in conclusion, I've realised... How stupid are people to think that a night sampling some weed is more dangerous than a night out drinking alcohol, the amount of fights I've been In ffrom drinking (which I am in no way bragging or showing off about) compared to being on the streets smoking weed is like 100:1, what the fuck has society come too!!
im pretty proud of my new found patience and realisation, I'm so glad I've outgrown all these people who are years older than me and still going out drinking and looking for fights.
seriously though, surely people who have been clubbing has experienced this side of clubbing yet they say alcohol is so much better than weed and other euphoric drugs...
maybe im rambling on or I just don't even make sense, but just writing this out of my early ended night frustration to stupid ignorant minds who abuse alcohol...

the scary new way to shot alcohol
Found this article from mens health. I think some people gotta be bonkers.
The latest trend in drinking is not drinking.
No, we don't mean abstaining from alcohol—we're talking about vaporizing it.
A new device called Vapshot turns spirits into fumes you can inhale, which routes the alcohol directly from your lungs to your brain.
Why would you ever use something like this? Because breathing booze makes for a more efficient buzz: You get tipsy off a tiny bit of liquor and feel the effects almost immediately.
But it's also risky, says Samir Zakhari, Ph.D., a former director of the Division of Metabolism and Health Effects at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and an advisor to the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.
When you drink normally, your stomach and intestines absorb some of the alcohol, and then your liver tries to break down the rest, Zakhari says. The excess that your liver can't deal with goes into your bloodstream and eventually to your brain—that's when you get drunk.
When you inhale booze, however, it's a much more direct line—and therefore a more powerful hit. The alcohol goes through blood vessels in your lungs and into your blood, which carries it straight up to your brain, says Zakhari.
The result? Your brain absorbs the alcohol like a sponge, Zakhari says, and it becomes concentrated there. "It will definitely give you a buzz, but it will have damaging effects," he says.
If you breathe in too much too quickly, it would have the same potential consequences as getting tanked the traditional way—including possible death, Zakhari says.
On Vapshot's website, the company claims that alcohol leaves the body faster when you vape it, making it harder to accumulate enough in your system to become dangerously drunk. But that may not be true, according to Zakhari and Vijay A. Ramchandani, Ph.D., Chief of the Section on Human Psychopharmacology at the NIAAA.
Sure, the liquor may leave your blood faster—but that could be because it's being absorbed by your brain, says Zakhari. So while your blood alcohol concentration (BAC) may be low, your cranium might in fact be full of booze, he says.
And then there’s this kicker: Vaping could also harm your lungs, Ramchandani says. For one thing, you're not supposed to introduce fluid into your lungs, because it can disrupt your ability to absorb oxygen, he says. Plus, you could end up harming cells in your lungs responsible for expelling dust particles, says Zakhari.
To Vapshot's credit, the device does make it harder to inhale a harmful quantity by only vaporizing 1/60th of a shot at a time. The thing that worries us, though, is that lots of people are willing to try pretty hard to get sloshed.
The verdict: It's probably not worth the risk.
"It always amazes me how people try to find different ways to destroy their bodies," Zakhari says. "Why subject yourself to inhaling it? It's using alcohol for the buzz, not for the taste and conversation. I don't see any reason for it to be done."

Using Psychedeilics To Treat Alcoholism
I'm sure most people have heard of using psychedelics to treat alcoholism but they are still finding more and more evidence to support the claims that have been around since basically as long as LSD has been known to man but I imagine it's a lot to do with the actual therapy than it is just necking a load of LSD instead of spending it on beer for a change.

THE DRANK TANK – Drinking Evolved
Hello Everyone,
I thought this website would be a good place to start the conversation about alcohol vaporizers.
I have created a new device on the market and called it The Drank Tank (play on words of the drunk tank)
We will be launching it on Kickstarter within the next week.
Please take a look at the site. I am looking for feedback.
