AFOAF is planning on making a moonshine still with a pressure cooker/copper piping. The only thing he needs to know is, how the hell do you secure the copper pipe onto the lid of the pressure cooker!?

I drink every night… I wish to stop!
As long as I can remember since sometime in May I have pretty much had alcohol every Evening. I drink A half bottle of GIN 35cl and two cans of Stella. The space of time I drink in is from 6pm till 10pm when I fall asleep. I am working ATM and when I do I work on an island doing a 9-5 job everyday, that's 7 days a week for 7/8 months. (I only have three weeks left) Anyway you might think this is an expensive habit drinking £15 worth of booze everyday but it's actually free. because i steal it. I have been saying to myself every night while drinking i want to stop but then at the end of my shift the next day i take my booze and start drinking (alone) I watch TV shows and play games online with some mates. I think this has to end..
I'm a drunk.
I'm a thief
I'm a bad person.
But my new life starts tomorrow.. I vow not to be this person anymore.

Short-Term Effects of Alcohol
Alcohol is a potent central nervous system depressant with a wide range of effects. The amount you consume effects how drunk you will get.
The effects of alcohol change over time. When you first start drinking. You may feel relaxed. But the more you drink, the more side effects you begin to feel, like blurred vision and slurred speech.
Euphoria is an effect that alcohol has on people. Essentially, getting the euphoric effect means you will feel an overall mood improvement. You may be more self-confident when drinking. Your attention span shortens and you may feel more flushed. Whether your believe it or now, your judgment won't be as good as you think it is and you may well say the first thing that comes to mind or do things that you would not normally do. You will also start to have trouble with fine movements such as signing their name. With more alcohol, lethargy may start to set in. Lethargy is the side effect where you may become sleepy. You have trouble remembering things that happened, even recent things you have done. Body movements are uncoordinated and you may react to situations more slowly. Your vision becomes blurry and they have trouble seeing.
Confusion is also caused by drinking. You may get confused and very emotional, less likely to respond to pain. If you get in a fight while you are drunk, you will not feel the pain until the alcohol wears off.
Stupor is another short term effect of alcohol. In this condition movement is seriously impaired and you may lapse in and out of consciousness. You can slip into a coma and become completely unaware of your surroundings. At this point, the risk to the body is very high due to alcohol poisoning. Loss of body functions can begin like losing control of the bladder, breathing and heart rate.
Drinking large amounts of alcohol can lead to coma and even death. If you want to avoid these risks, the best way to do it is to avoid alcohol. You can start being effected by alcohol from the very first sip, whether you realize it or not.
Excessive doses of alcohol can cause long term as well as short-term side effects. Some of the long term effects are: slowing, blurred vision, vertigo, amnesia, ataxia, and hangovers.
The liver is part of the body's filtration system. This means when it is damaged it allows certain toxins to build up, leading to symptoms of Jaundice. This is what you are seeing when a person's skin begins to turn yellow.
Many people don’t think of alcohol as a drug but the fact is that it is a drug. It is just as lethal as any other drug can be. When you overuse any drug you can expect consequences. This is also true with alcohol. Many people think that it is okay to have a beer once in a while or that if you drink at home you won’t be hurting anyone.
Think again. You are hurting yourself and by hurting yourself you are hurting the ones that care about you. Whether you drink some at home or at a bar, alcohol can have the same effect on you. One sip and the process begins.

Alcohol: Harmless or not?
Although I'm sure everyone'll understand why having just spent the last 10 days nursing my mother in hospital for severe alcohol related illness and had my own brushes with it I'm a bit biased on the subject. What are your views on the drug? Harmless or not? Give us your stories...

Shits getting outta hand……
I've been officially been diagnosed with alcoholism, and don't know what to do about it. My mental issues have been out of control and I find myself in the same situation a Psy. In a really fucked up way, I have no intention of stopping, not that I could if I tried, the worst part about it is I'm a pathetic drunk; not even any fun or funny, just plain fuckin pathetic. I spent over £200 on drink on Saturday, and that was for ME....no other fucker, just ME.
I've found myself often thinking about just drinking myself to oblivion, which I tihnk I could do, tried opening up my wrists and that failed, tried hanging myself that failed, but booze.......
Fuck this, safe.

Day one of sobriety!
No booze for over 24 hours. No DTs! Seems like tailing off slowly has done the trick.
My brain feels like it has gone into overdrive though!

Alternative to alcohol
Hi guys,
Looking for suggestions what try as an alternative to the alcohol to brighten up life few weekend evenings at home with wife. Main reason for the quest is wife's low tolerance to the alcohol: gets very sleepy quickly and bad headaches at night and in the morning. Even after drinking only one or two units... Done bit of "research" and found that alcohol is pretty nasty drug comparing to the other stuff. Based on some articles it's in 5th place by the harm to the body!!!!
What we could try to get similar to alcohols "relaxed" experience, but without unwanted "side affects" mentioned earlier?

NL : Dutch boozers, pirate radio holding outdoor events to escape licensing costs
Found a really odd newsreport on RTL via youtube last night (I will dig it out if anyone really wants to watch it, but its in Dutch).
Anyway this dude in a bar was complaining that the pirate radio stations were holding outdoor events and young people weren't going to his bar, that pirate radio stations were organising this and that he was supporting the Police and Agentschap Telecom (communications ministry officials) in clamping down hard on this.
Which sounds familar - but the events aren't raves, they only drink Heineken and Grolsch (I've not heard of drugs being taken at all at these piratenfeestjes) and listen to piratenhits which are a Dutch version of oompah music and country and western mixed together! I've heard this before and thought it was for older people (my age and above) - I only listen to them to improve my Dutch (I admit I do like them especially after a few beers) but a lot more young people are getting into this scene, and prefer it to music with English lyrics (then again its better than rnb and much urban stuff, I'd rather listen to piratenhits myself!)
This happens not so much in Amsterdam and Rotterdam but in the rural areas closer to Germany, but it all seems a bit bizzare TBH, especially as they are organised just like outdoor raves in the UK...
