Turning your back on legal highs Hi people, just wanted to express myself here, I've been sampling legal highs now for around 5 years, first it was the "pep" pills (bzp), and then moved on to doves, mitzees, and the mephadrone, but for the last few months ive decided to try and put that behind me, after trying nrg 1, and other things after the meow ban I have always been let down and now believe that these new rc chemicals are poorly researched and dangerous, but it's not just because of this, it also that feeling in the morning when you've had no sleep and your got to go to work In the morning, the depression is the worst and the guilt has been growing for a while now. I have to amit I feel more focus and I'm enjoying actually getting to sleep. I think the bottoms falling out of the rc game and glad to be out of it, but I'm not preaching , I enjoyed the trip, but it's been more down than up the last year or so, anyone else feel the same?12

New ‘Legal Highs’ Law to be Passed Organisers of this summer's music festivals have been asked by the government to warn revellers about "legal highs". Minister for Crime Prevention, James Brokenshire, wrote to festival organisers asking them to warn people how such substances could be dangerous.
He said drug laws would be changed and a temporary ban may be introduced while "full scientific advice" was sought.
Letters were also sent to councils and police forces in festival areas.Mr Brokenshire said: "During the festival season we know that people may be tempted to try potentially dangerous new drugs, particularly when they are advertised as 'legal' or 'herbal'. "That is why we are asking festival organisers and police to work with us to send out the message that these substances may not be safe and could contain illegal drugs.
"We are going to change our drug laws so we can respond quickly to emerging substances by introducing a temporary ban while we seek full scientific advice."
Some drugs previously sold as "legal highs" have now been banned, including mephedrone, now a Class B drug. The Home Office said that the drug naphyrone is branded as NRG1 and sold as "plant food" or "bath salts", but may contain one or more illegal drugs. The government said it will not permanently ban a substance without receiving full advice from the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs. In the letter sent to festival organisers, Mr Brokenshire said: "As part of your preparations for this year's event I ask you to review the measures you have put in place to ensure that your festival is as safe an environment as possible, to help protect the public, especially young people from the potential harms and risks of all drugs." The government's advice has been welcomed by Melvin Benn, managing director of Festival Republic, which stages the Latitude, Big Chill and Reading and Leeds Festivals. He said: "I can confirm that we do not allow legal high traders to trade at any Festival Republic festival and fully support the minister's view."

UK : Scot : Scots legislators working on new law to outlaw "legal highs" they are also looking to bring the law in across the UK as drugs laws aren't devolved!
A fundamental change in drugs law that would criminalise the act of selling or manufacturing recreational drugs rather than outlawing the substance itself has been proposed by the Scottish government, and is being studied by officials in Edinburgh and London, The Times can reveal.
The proposals are aimed at targeting the growing use of legal highs such as mephedrone, or “meow-meow” — a plant food that can be bought over the internet and which has a similar effect to Ecstasy or cocaine.
Police and ministers are increasingly concerned that criminals are able to stay one step ahead of the law by creating pharmaceutical combinations outside the latest illegal drug classifications.

But flappy pants can't find anything about this drug online, the guy on the shop told him to google MDPU and it would give him the info on this new drug.
Any ideas what this is? He's not going to take it if he can't find out what it is, but he trusts his head shop and knows them quite well. He will ask for more info on it next time he's in the shop.
Harney Announces Ban on Stimulant BZP (Ireland) Harney announces ban on stimulant BZP | BreakingNews.ie
31/03/2009 - 17:27:22
The stimulant drug BZP which is promoted as a legal alternative to ecstasy and amphetamines was banned today by the Government.
The man-made chemical pills – sometimes wrongly referred to as Herbal E – are widely available in so-called head shops, which specialise in drug paraphernalia.
Ireland follows the lead of several other EU countries where BZP has already been declared a controlled drug, although it remains legal throughout Britain.
Health Minister Mary Harney said the drug had now been brought under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977.
“This will now make the possession of BZP illegal and make sure that BZP is no longer available for sale in head shops around the country, which has been an issue of concern to my department and the wider public,” she said.
Ms Harney’s department acted after a recommendation from the EU last March that the psychoactive substance come under control measures and criminal provisions.
EU concerns followed a European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction report that found the use of BZP can lead to various medical problems.
While the long-term effects remain unknown, it has been associated with vomiting, anxiety, insomnia, mood swings and seizures.
The mood-affecting drug, also known as party pills, Legal X, XTC and piperazine, was originally developed in a UK laboratory in 1944 as a worming treatment for cattle.
It was never widely used in the agricultural sector because it caused some animals to have fits.
Jim Bellamy, co-owner of the Nirvana chain of head shops which has outlets in Ireland, UK, New Zealand and Australia, said the move would turn people to other illegal drugs.
“My only concern is the stupidity of the authorities, because now people who can’t get BZP will turn back to illegal drugs and they will die. There’s no question about it,” he said.
Although the ban came as no surprise to Mr Bellamy, he hit out at the lack of any advance notice, which he said had left head shop-owners confused about the drug’s legal status.
“I’m waiting to verify what the position is and if it is illegal then of course I will remove everything from my premises and won’t sell it anymore,” he said.
“But I thought it would be courtesy for the authorities to let us know.”
A Health Department spokesman said the law will be enforced in the normal way, and it was likely that gardaí will notify traders that they have to remove the products from sale
