My new e-bike (Wisper 905 Torque) As I often ride very late at night (and there are often all sorts of jaywalkers around at random hours, many of whom are not sober) I decided to also add a 1000 lumen LED on the handlebars + some reflective tape. (provided I only use yellow and orange I'm OK - blue is (as you'd expect) verboten and alas so is green (as I am only fixing the computers, not the patients)...
I've noticed though folk are now very careful driving near me :laugh_at:
DK : New electronic signs to stop traffic jams for cyclists! There are now so many cyclists in Copenhagen that they have traffic jams at the rush hours, and hope these electronic signs will encourage people to stagger their journeys more to avoid them..

US : More Americans cycling (and building bikes), roads being re-planned Interesting - especially as I'd always traditionally associated these 3 areas with big roads and "gas guzzler" type cars although had recently read about Detroit becoming half empty (which as the article suggests now means you can at least ride a bike there without risking being knocked down, there is likely way more room than here in the UK!)

World Cup BMX – hosted in Sarasota, FL City of Sarasota along with Alice and Haps Honda have put a ton of money & almost a full year into bring 12th street track up to NBA , National bicycle League & ABA rules and standards for this event. very impressive track and coordination.

**Sarasota / Florida has continued to be the best competitors in this sport worldwide, Always taking the sport to a new level. If you have a chance to make it out this weekend it is quite the spectacle to watch. And now lots of money and sponsorship involved since the Olympics started including the sport. Often times the mid-heats are even better than the main event!!
US : BBC report about rise in cycling in some US cities Not sure how accurate some of this is, referring to the "humble bicycle" then featuring what appears to be a fairly upmarket "hipster friendly" bike shop in LA - they do have some decent bikes there to be fair and not too expensive either; though for those wanting to actually use them for transport I would suggest the "city" models unless they are particularly fit or it never rains in LA (?) ( or wherever this place is).
Also some profs making a "self-riding e-bike" - although e-bikes (of the sort you would ride like a normal one) are good this is as daft as the self driving cars (I can envisage many ways that go wrong!)....
it glosses over the stuff in Oregon and other cities which I'm sure still must have way better proper bike shops just like we have here in Europe..

DE : Open source electric powered bike trailer / handcart This design can carry 150 kilos of bulky load; and the German lass who builds them with her friends at a co-operative farm is also sharing the design
It can be used as a 6 km/h handcart (that is the maximum permitted on European streets) or as a trailer behind a normal bike or an e-bike - the brakes have to be linked so using an e-bike that already has the switched levers would be safer and more convenient, although an unpowered bike would work the cyclist would still have to be quite strong and the whole thing would handle like riding a 3 wheeled e-bike but with the powered rear wheel on a pivot (and affected by the wind, road surface etc) - having the power spread across two wheels should be safer.

Assholes My buddy who rides a couple miles on his bike a day was riding his bike today and someone threw a full cup of soda at him for no reason. Apparently his step-dad says that shit happens all the time to him where I live. What can I do to prevent something like this from happening and what can I legally do to the person afterwards. Thinking of carrying rocks in my pocket so I can break someones back window open when that happens.12
DE : Emergency services bike from Berlin this dude is part of the Red Cross so its legal for him to add the blue lights to his bike - it can often be first on scene to an incident like a senior who has fallen over/taken ill in the pedestrianised shopping area and carry life saving equipment like defibrillators (we have them in the UK as well); and treat the patient at the scene; if they need a full size ambulance the officer can use their portable radio to request this.

DE : Traffic control of cyclists in Münster (auf Deutsch) There are around 700 000 cyclists in this area (apparently more people cycle than drive cars); but they have to obey the traffic rules which appear to be enforced quite strictly there
The young chap got a fine of €55 for running a red light whilst listening to music on headphones + €25 for some defect on his bike (and a license point at the central traffic authority!); the other older people got €15-€25 fines for carrying unsafe items on the handlebars, not dismounting in pedestrian zones (as they are grown adults) and going the wrong way down a one way street. I didn't realise DE cops even had debit card readers (as well as their batons and a Walther P99)
If I ever ride there I will have to be careful; especially as the Polizei have now changed to Tetra radios [designed in the UK], as folk are complaining these are cutting across the TV reception if they live near a repeater mast. In the video the cops are still using the low band VHF analogue sets (the smart Germans have added a handy buttoned flap to his cycling jacket to stop the long antenna poking him in the eye when riding) - but those old radios can be easily monitored on a scanner.

IN / SE : THe man who cycled from India to Sweden for love It is particularly impressive that this actually worked - they are still married and his knees haven't given out on him (a Pakistani friend rode in the same area in the 1990s, the terrain is rough and they only had old style British 3 speed bikes (with a particularly obscure type of inner tube valve) even then. He only went a short distance in the Punjab but it totally knackered him to the point he couldn't believe it was possible to cycle just 6km every day to and from work like I did and he was younger and lived a far healthier lifestyle.
I suspect the Indian dude still rides his bike or keeps in good health as he looks nearer 44 than 64....

DK : An electric motorcycle for deliveries this seems like a very good idea - it is just the right size and power to be safe on European roads (it would be licensed in the same way as existing motorcycles) and has more room to carry the cargo than many cars and small vans. It is also quiet and pollution free; unlike similar powered small motorcycles used to deliver pizzas etc....
