General Lighting (and other bikers) Quick biking question if you have a sec, do you follow this advice from the CTC;
"How far out you should cycle will depend on the conditions but you should not be less than 1 metre from the kerb and should be further out if it is not safe for a vehicle to pass at that point (i.e. round a blind corner)."
Just seems very counter intuitive (although I understand its better as you have more presence on the road) and I would worry that it will annoy car drivers etc
Also noticed this;
"The Highway Code specifically allows cyclists to ride two abreast"
Never knew that!
Cameroon making sure his new bike is safe now he’s PM.. Two metpol trojan (armed) officers? I though the new government was supposed to be cutting security costs of politicians..

Tesco get stung by £1 million push bikes don't they have a check and limit on their outgoing BACS payment tape? :you_crazy I work as a finance / technology manager and normally all payments have to be cleared via the directors, would have thought Tesco's would be the last to be caught out this way.. :laugh_at:
Supermarkets are known for buying the cheapest bikes they can get their hands on – often at the expense of comfort and reliability – and them selling them on in bulk for a tidy profit.
But not British retail giant Tesco – according to legal papers filed at the High Court in London, the company shelled out £984,000 for just six Muddy Fox mountain bikes in August.
Since the accounting error was discovered – the full-suspension bikes should have cost just £984 – the company has done its best to reclaim the money from Essex-based Universal Cycles, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.

UK : New mum? On your bike! I don't have kids but it seems like a good idea to me, if more kids cycle to school it will make the roads safer for them (due to safety in numbers), they will be fitter and it will be better for the environment...

US : Watch for bikes The American traffic authorities wanted to warn motorists to be aware of those on their bicycles, particularly if they are forced to swerve out of a cycle lane due to an obstruction.
What better way to warn the road users, than a large sign?

Bikes on trains, and whats a "class number"? OK I want to get my bike on the train if I go to certain places up North Norfolk (as they are 5-6 miles walk from the stations)
a while back I asked some people and they said you could do it but your bike had to go in a certain part of the train depending on the "class number" and you would have sometimes to pre-book it with One/NX
I think it was something to do with whether it was an electric train or those diesel ones, (other than that they all look the same to me), but what should I look for? any trainspotters in the house lol? :laugh_at:
