Steam engines and trains being built at Crewe, coal pit trams, British Leyland, Raleigh, Chorlton and the Wheelies etc...
I think you lot should round up an armed posse (easily found anywhere in Nottinghamshire these days) and recover your lost wheels. I expect you will find they are probably all in some scallies lock-up around Bootle....
US : Bike shop workers bling up $53 cheapo bike for time trial For non cyclists a time trial is where people ride a very expensive racing bike around a usually circular/elliptical track of known distance as fast as they can. not the sort of thing that appeals to me as you don't see any scenery; and there is a bit of snobbery over having the best equipment and a lot of posing/testosterone
anyway these Yanks in a bike shop have picked up an el cheapo mountain bike and (after swapping some of the components) are going to enter it in the state time trial :)

Road (bike) Rage I ride my bike everywhere. Just now i was in some stationary traffic on the way back from work when a lady in a veichle behind me shouts out 'oi mate can you get out the way'. I asked why and she just said i was in her way. She then proceeds to tell me she 'pays her taxes' and pointed to her car tax. So i tell her that by riding my bike im not producing any pollution etc and there is no bike tax!
Anyway as the nice guy i am i decided to let her pass after a minutes worth of arguing with a huge smile on my face so she doesnt know im pissed off but fucking hell what was her problem ? The traffic wasnt even moving.
I was in traffic cycling past a school at 3:30pm so cycling on the pavement was obviously out of the question. But on the other hand ive had abuse hurled at me for cycling on the pavement. You just cant win!
Ive never had a car driver to tell me to get off the road because i dont pay taxes before. In retrospect i should have just cycled really slowly to piss her off but at the time i was more confused by her.

Bike is Back. . . My much loved Monster bike and rack went missing off the back of my van.
ARRRGH!
Spent the week letting all the bike shops know, digging pics out for the police and going to bootfairs 2 try to get it back.
Then gave up! Then found it with rack still locked to it, at the side of the road. It Seems that it had just dropped off! Half a Mile from home!
Hope it did not take out any motocycles when it lay in the middle of the road!
Gave it a wash and New back Wheel and is as good as New!

UK : curious case of a ridgeway "bike thief". This is an extract from a pressrel from the May bank holiday rave which happened on the Ridgeway
Four people have been arrested for minor drugs offences and one for theft of a bicycle. No further information is available on these people at this time.
Does anyone know any more about what happened here?
if someone rode to the party on a stolen bike (or worse still nicked it from a cyclist in the vicinity who may have left it unlocked whilst having a rest stop) and was caught then TBH they got what they deserved from the cops.. And after some scrotes forced my garage door in 2002 and removed a bike which some friends had specially built for me I would advocate re-using coombe gibbet for dealing with bike thieves... (I now keep my bikes inside the house..)
OTOH are the cops routinely stopping any young people they see near the ridgeway on bikes, particularly if they happen to be in the vicinity of raves? How would they tell a raver apart from the people who always cycle on the ridgeway.
Does this mean I am going to have to carry the paperwork showing which bike shop I got mine from (legitimately bought with my own money) every time I go about in South Oxfordshire, lest I am accused of stealing my own machine?
what next, the local cycling club rides being stopped by TVP roadblocks and everyone being requested to bring in their bike shop receipts within 7 days?
