Books You Should Read Just been reading through this: The Addicted Brain - Michael Kuhar. Small chapters regarding various scientific stuff about drugs including addiction, changes in the brain, how neurotransmitters work etc. With footnotes at the end of each chapter relating to journals/research.
What books do you recommend reading (any subject!)?12

Free Book Offer This is a big shout to those that know why they drop out. I am an author based in the UK.
I have written a book City of a Million Dots and I am looking for the right audience. The book works on many levels - from stoned teenage uber-wild gang, The Kage Kids; kick ass hard man, Victor Scram; beautiful bad girl, Liv; ultra feminist accomplished genius women, Linda Kalom and Spodge; manic artist, Dr Neon; architecture that seeks to control, the ctiy (based on the crumbling beauty of Detroit) train lines soaked in blood, expectation, genetic manipulation, the death of god, the birth of choice, love, creation... lurking underneath are postmodernism, philosophy, psychoanalysis and poetry. The list goes on and on. It's had good reviews (check amazon link below). But I just feel it needs to find the right audience.
My ideal audience is the intelligent, drop out stoner, psychedelic misfit that thinks in the new way, a secular mystic who knows that the classical models of science, religion and society are already dead. In other words, they who are in the wasteland, but are not afraid. To this end, I am happy to send free books to people who can demonstrate why they fit this model. We're talking real books here, no e books.
Thank you kindly for your time

Ever heard of drugfreeword? OK so we all know of people who spread shit about drugs and brainwash the masses, and I'm sure you lot have heard of Scientology ( if you havnt please look the 'religion' up and have a laugh, IMO the funniest religion after Normans).
Now cross them together what do you get? Drugfreeword! A fucking website /leaflet that's all across the UK/US, from what I can tell, that just spulls shit about drugs. Now I came across this website a few times on Google when researching drugs/effects but never went on it till the other day, 1st I laughed at it but now angry as spreading this shit should be illegal, misinformation and all that, have a check yourself and laugh or rage!

“At a rave party, I saw a guy who had stuffed himself with Ecstasy repeat for hours, ‘I am an orange, don’t peel me, I am an orange, don’t peel me.’ Another guy thought he was a fly and wouldn’t stop hitting his head against a window.” —Liz

(Loosely) Based on the antics of a famous crew who dig the number 23, it explores an interesting link between the true days of the early 90s, mashed up with the whole internet/"baitbook" period of the later noughties.
Especially loved the bits about Acton and Hackney - anyone on here do Dace Road? Defo gets a mention, albeit not by name
Well worth a gander - less than £2 on Kindle, just over £5 in paperback.
Promoting a self-help book online There's a couple books out there that I've found insightful:
On Killing by Dave Grossman goes into how it is that people become capable of such horrendous acts. Fight, Flight, or Hide by John Forsythe, although short, does a pretty good job explaining how we can prepare for these shootings.
I'm surprised that with all these mass shootings there isn't more literature on the subject. I liked Fight, Flight, or Hide by John Forsythe for its practical advice, but there's still a bit of an empty spot on the shelf. Has anyone else run across any books on the subject?
“Mass shootings are a tragedy, just like earthquakes, fires, or tornadoes. Isn't it time we actually prepared for them” That's my point, these things are happening all the time, but we're shocked every time. We should have trainings and drills and stuff by now! (The quote was from Fight, Flight, or Hide, by John Forsythe if anyone was wondering)
It kind of bugs me that a lot of posts on mass shootings are either political maneuvering or just baseless opinion. Is it really too much to ask for people to educate themselves? If you don't want to do the research yourself, read a book like Fight, Flight or Hide. On Killing was also pretty good, though not specifically about mass shootings.
Why do we keep running from these shooters? One guy shows up with a gun and hundreds of us run away? Why don't we attack the bugger and be done with it? You might say I'm crazy, but it actually makes all the sense in the world! Read Fight, Flight, or Hide by John Forsythe and you'll see what I mean. We've got to turn the tide here!
It should be a criminal offense to disarm your workforce like they did at the Naval Yard. This shooting, by one account, took thirty minutes to conclude! In the first few seconds you have panic and shock, but after that someone should have been able to do something! We should be able to prepare for it, and then react when it happens. I even just read a book on it, Fight, Flight, or Hide, by John Forsythe, but I'm sure there's lots of resources out there that would be just as helpful.
This shooting scared a lot of people, and there is a lot of apprehension about when it will happen next. I read a book that helped me with that. It brought up that we actually can prepare for these shootings just like we prepare for an earthquake or a tornado. We can't predict them exactly, but we know they will happen and that we are not exempt. If we are prepared for it, we can reduce the body counts and stop the shooters! Oh, the book was Fight, Flight, or Hide by John Forsythe.
Read Fight, Flight, or Hide. I haven't found any other book that really addresses the topic directly.
Has anyone found any books on surviving a mass shooting? I can't find much about it on Amazon. There is one book called Fight, Flight, or Hide, but that's about it. Anyone heard anything about that one?
Drugs, without the hot air. Proff Nutt Definitely recommended reading to anyone interested in learning more about substances,
I've not read it all but what I have read so far is compelling, and educational,
I've read a fair few of his papers and seen him talk, he certainly has a way of getting information / research across without you having to be medically trained12
PH : Retired pinoy sets up free library.. Impressive (especially as there are at least two if not 3 main languages used in PH, so the books would have to be in alll of these for the library to be a success)
BBC News - The man who turned his home into a public library
William Burroughs All right, general William Burroughs discussion (there's no literature section of the topics :/)
Also, I know he was involved in, and initiated into, the Illuminates. I was wondering if anyone knew anything more about that particular bit, as well.12
