New tag: GOOGLE
You can now embed google videos into the board again (it used to work with the 'media' tag) this time using the new google icon located at the top right of your text editor. The only information you need is the number of the clip you're adding which you'll find in the page's url (see attached)...
For example clicking this icon...
or typing the following code (without the spaces!)...
[ google]1631174657279091520[/ google]
would give you...

My dear friend,
Good day.
Please, I want to introduce myself and this business
opportunity to you.My name is James Coleman,a bank accountant.
I wish to know if we can work together.I would like
you to stand as the next of kin to my deceased client
who made some deposits to my bank.He died without any
registered next of kin and as such the funds now have an
open beneficiary mandate. Moreover it appears you are related

If you are interested you do let me know so that I can

I urgently hope to get your response as soon as
possible.
Best regards
James Coleman

little help?
Found on Maplin electronics website. I wanted to try and tune into the Coastguard weather broadcasts (as I live very near tidal rivers and the sea) and monitor what the boaters were at but my old VHF/UHF scanner has given up the ghost ; so I was looking at a new one (scanning is pretty much tolerated now as cops etc have all gone digital)
Anyway this was one the maplins website.. people can email questions about each bit of kit and have then answered by staff. Check question no 4...

I got this Email Dear Katrina,
Despite continued international outcry and documentation of its cruelty, the commercial seal hunt in Canada killed more than 330,000 seals this year. Ninety-five percent of the seals beaten or shot were under three months old. And it will happen all over again in just six months.
You might wonder what you can do in the UK to stop a hunt in Newfoundland, Canada that is supported (and indirectly subsidise) by Canada's own government. But the banning of seal products in Europe would be a significant step towards ending the cruelty.
Please help us get as many signatures as possible on a petition circulating in the European Parliament to ban the import of seal products into Europe . IFAW has written to all Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to ask them to sign the Written Declaration to ban seal products. We need more than half of them to sign by 6th September for this critical step to move forward. We now have over 290 signatures and we urgently need about 80 more MEPs to sign.
The truth about the seal hunt will break your heart
Seals are routinely clubbed or shot and left to suffer on the ice, then dragged over the sides of boats with sharpened metal hooks. Few sealers are observed checking to see if a seal is still alive before they skin it.
This isn't killing for food or survival, it's killing for fashion. Over 98% of the value of the hunt is in the fur, a non-essential luxury product no one really needs. Most of the harp seal carcasses (including the meat) are simply abandoned to rot on the ice.
More than a million harp seals have been killed over the past three years. Millions of Canadians oppose the commercial seal hunt. This cannot be allowed to go on.
As well as helping to stop the trade in seal products, this Written Declaration will send a strong and clear message to Canada and other seal-hunting nations that the UK wants no part in this cruel and unnecessary hunt.
367 MEPs must sign the declaration before 6 September 2006 for this to pass, so please act now.
Thank you for speaking out to protect the seals.
Thanks again for your ongoing support,
Fred O’Regan
President and CEO

Paypal! When I first opened a paypal account I thought this was too good to be true. All I kept reading was 'no fees' for this and 'no fees' for that.
Anyway lo and behold last night I received a SMS saying that "you have received £** from such a person. So firstly to 'accept' this payment I had to activate the 'SMS alert' part of my account. When I did this the transaction showed up on my balance. But to my horror approx. 5% had been taken out. On closer inspection on the T's & C's it did say that you'd be charged a small fee for receiving cash. IMHO 5% aint a small fee. And also to verify my account, I had to go through the procedure of telling paypal a couple of questions to make sure it was my bank account, blah blah blah.
If anybody else uses 'paypal' can you please post on this thread of any other 'stealth fees', so as to be on my guard in the future. Maybe the good old fashioned 'your check is in the post' way of doing business is still the more favourable one:wink:
my thoughts on trolling
Quote:
Whether 'tis nobler to suffer
the inanity of outrageous questions
Or to kick out the offending party
And by banning, end them. To write, to post --
No more -- and by a ban to say we end
The headaches, and the thousand gobsmacked shocks
That trolls are prone to. 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To ban, to rid --
To rid -- perchance to perm; ay, there's the rub
For in that ban of perm what fun may come
When we have shuffled off this silly troll,
Must give us pause. Without respect
Trolls make calamity and such long threads.
For who would bear the derision widespread,
The masses wronged, the good threads ruined,
The pangs of despised politics unargued,
The insolence and offense, and the spurns
That patient merit of his unworthy fakes
When he himself fecal matter rakes
WIth a bare faced lie? Who would hapless bear,
To moan and groan through weary tired threads,
But that the dread of being seen as fools,
Of an undiscovered level, from whose bourn,
No reputation returns, puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have,
Than make them fly to other places on the net?
Thus conscience does make cowards of the troll,
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprise of great pitch and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry
And lose the name of action. -- Ban you now,
The troll despicable! -- Troll, in thy orisons
Be all your sins remembered
Superb and very apt!
