Holiday party planning This holiday season is just getting going. In the weeks ahead, you’ll be putting up decorations, eating way too much food, and shopping until you proverbially (or literally) drop. In the midst of all this, it’s easy to let the stress of the season overtake you and before you know it the month has passed you by and you never really got to celebrate it.
You can celebrate in style this year by throwing your own Christmas party. Invite close friends, family, or the whole neighborhood, but whatever you do, don’t miss out on the excuse to have fun and relax with the people you love this season. Too often we let the opportunity pass us by to celebrate our lives in the moment, perhaps rationalizing that we’ll be happy when we attain that distant, elusive goal of complete happiness.
The following are some ideas to get you started planning your first or fortieth Christmas party.
The cookies & cocoa party
Nothing is more comforting and yummy than a mug of steaming cocoa and a cookie on a chilly winter’s night. You can turn this food into its own buffet line if you so choose, including different add-ins for the hot cocoa and different decorations for the cookies. Create Christmas-themed placards to label each ingredient for a fun, festive flair. Include cute holiday plates, cups, and striped straws for a fun look adults and children alike will enjoy.
The formal appetizer party
If you’re into a more formal type of get-together, choose darker, more rich tones of red and green for your color palette and use sophisticated decorations like garlands and subtle twinkle lights. For refreshment, you might serve green grapes, red grapes, and cheese shaped into the triangular approximation of a layered tree. You can do the same with cherry tomatoes, cauliflower, and broccoli for a veggie Christmas tree.
The pajama party
In addition to the food of the season, there are some great holiday movies that are sure to inspire heart-warming memories and fond reminisces of childhood Christmas activities. Your party might be the opposite spectrum from the formal and be so informal that guests are encouraged to wear their pajamas so they can be comfortable while they curl up with a warm blanket and a few friends to watch some of those classic Christmas movies. Jumpin Jammerz provides a selection of footed adult pajamas and any guess who arrived wearing a pair could be sure to be the best-dressed person there...
How do you like your tea? What blend and how do you prepare it and what do you have it with?
Personally for breakfast I like to have some green tea. I boil a little more water than I need so I can run it over the tea to "wash" it as this removes bitterness. Then I wait for the water to cool down a bit (between 92-80 degrees) and then let it brew for about 3 minutes.
I add a little brown sugar to sweeten it a little bit.
Mmmm teaaaaaaa.

UK/MY/DE : A rather unusual chinaman. TBH when I first read his blog (it is 99% about food available in London, and some bits about gadgets) my first thought was that "there's nothing that unusual about him, but he might have ancestry from Malaysia - and indeed he does). Anything I thought know_hope, barretone and Daftfader might like this (I personally do not have the time or money to eat all this exotic stuff and would put on weight it I did)

I am being devoured by mosquitoes. I believe mosquitoes are hatching out of the water barrel in my garden which is directly under my bedroom window. I could hear the high pitched buzzes last night but before I remembered what that type of buzz was one had already been on my back biting away.

I got bit by one the other week 4 times and they have only just healed and now this. After I captured and killed one of them I heard another buzz and then found one eating my leg. Well I killed him too. I checked them out online and they are 100% mosquitoes. They are quite small in comparison to ones you get in OZ and USA etc but the fuckers still itch and burn like hell.
I also have a toothache and indigestion. (feel sorry for me)
Oh and everyone is being mean to me at home (like my grumpy brother)
BTW I hate my webcam, it makes evrything look all blue. I look like I have hypothermia and I haven't been outside in my whole life.12
‘the fried chicken shop (nice documentary) The Fried Chicken Shop: Life in a Day - 4oD - Channel 4
A 'mini-rig' of fixed cameras provides unprecedented access to Roosters Spot's flagship store on south London's party-strip, Clapham High Street. Flooded with regulars in the week and revellers on the weekend, it's a space that feels unpredictable at times and life-affirming at others.
No two days or nights are the same, and at the weekend the staff serve up to a thousand customers a night and stay open until 6am.The Roosters team, working on both the front line and breadline of Britain, reveal their personal experiences of what it's like to serve the great British public. The Chicken Shop is a place anyone can come, anything can happen and where, most of the time, anything goes.
I didn't realize it was such a social hub.

ok, so this is a meal that i had something very similar to when i was in israel i lived on a kibbutz with gf and on shabbat everyone cooked, shared food and ate together... i think this is better with good quality (expensive :s) tomatoes, but tinned is ok also... the one we had on the kibbutz didn't have chickpeas, and again it takes a little more effort, but will be better with chickpeas not from tin... his way is easy tho, and tasty :) ... this type of food is great, u just leave it and check occasionally and u get great tasting food
